If it works anything like the US Military, he has more time in grade than him but doesn't have more rank necessarily.

William could make the next rank quicker, if they were normal people. But seeing that they are both Royalty, they will be promoted as soon as possible anyway.

But since Prince William is the future head of the British military, it will not be for long.

While Prince Harry will stay an Army officer as long as he is in the Military.

The same is not true of Prince William, after finishing his training and joining his unit for a year.

Prince William will then go to the British Navy for a year and then the British AF for a year on familiarization attachments.

Graduating ahead of someone is more senior. Thus, Harry outranks William.

Harry and William share the same rank...but Harry would have more Seniority than William.
