3593 over four years comes out to less than 900 soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen giving their lives in Iraq each year.

I think the average number of armed forces stationed in Iraq has been close to 130,000. So the death count is 900/130000

=0.69% of average forces in Iraq lose their lives every year. Out of a thousand people, 7 men or women will lose their lives. Certain units will take the brunt of these deaths, though, and many units will come back with everybody. Depends on where the units go. Those in Baghdad and the Anbar province will suffer higher casualties those stationed with the Kurds in the north and everywhere else away from Baghdad, Al Qaeda, and Al Sadr. Reports say Iraq is mostly peaceful except in those areas.

The count will be much higher for casualties, though. And the 3593 is total COALITION deaths. The U.S. death count is 3323.
