This may be specific to my husband's unit, but when he was deployed, if there was ever a death or injury within the unit, they would have a "communications blackout" for several days. No phone, no internet. They wanted to avoid family members learning through the grapevine that their soldier had been wounded...or worse. I know it's scary and frustrating, but you have to keep reminding yourself that if something were wrong, you'd know within a few hours. I'm sure your husband is safe. I will keep him, and all of our troops in my prayers!

I would not worry too much right now. There be a lot of reasons why there is no emails. Out in the field, lock down on the emails due to a mission going on. And maybe the electricity is limited. So just wait and write a letter and use the good old Post Office.

If something happened you would know within a couple hours, don't worry he is busy, and sometimes those satellite internet things go down. Alot of times some minor incident happens and they ban emails and phone calls for a day or two. (due to operational security)

Internet connections in Afghanistan are extremely unreliable and so are telephone/ cellphone networks. Unless he has a satellite phone handy...it might be sometime before he can contact you.

Relax. He'll be just fine out there.

First of all, don't be too worried, if something happened to him then you would be the first to know, they always try to make it a priority to keep family memebers informed as much as possible. It could be one of many things, but the most likely is that their communications have been temporarily shut down until family memebers can be reached about the death of their loved one, but like I said don't be too worried, because you would know if it was your husband, the military just dosn't want private joe smith writing back to his wife that sgt john doe was killed, or worse to the news, they want to make sure it is done through the proper channels. Another likely option is that he is just too busy, or is out on patrol or something like that.

The internet connections are unrelayable in Afghanistan due to many factors.

Don't worry.

And when the internet connection comes through again, tell him that we think he is a hero and we appreciate what he is doing!

And you are a heroine too!
