I am writing an article based on the recent testimony of Marine Staff Sgt Eric Alva before congress and Chairman Peter Pace's comment about the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy in the military. I would like the opinions of current or recently seperated servicemembers? Specifically, did you know anyone that was secretly gay? Do you know anyone who was discharged for being gay? Do you know anyone who would serve but won't because of the DADT policy? Thanks.

I've seen it quite a bit recently and I to have been to Iraq. Majority say that we are doing good things over there. Building Schools, Hospitals, Orphanages and other things and it is worth it. But they havent showed any of that on TV. They only show when the miliatry makes a mistakes and blow it out of proportion or the give full hour specials to a group of troops to telll how much they are against the war. Even the troops that are wounded, (missing an arm / hand/ leg and other injurys) are trying to fight the system to stay in and go back there. If it was so bad and not worth it do you think they would want to go back?

It seems to me that the low-ranking soldiers court martialed for crimes at Abu Grahaib, don't think they did anything wrong, except take the pictures that eventually got them in trouble. They say that they were ordered to do those things...SO WHAT? If someone tells you to jump in front of a train are you going to do it? Are they that weak? Do they not have morals or a backbone? I'm in the military, and if someone who was higher in rank or my "boss" told me to do those things, I would tell them to go F*** themselves! AND, I would expose what was going on!!! Alot of those Iraqi men were innocent and had NO information! Even if they were terrorists, how do you cross that line morally to torture another human? That's what we have the court system for..to say what the punishment should be, not for you to take it in your own hands to just torture them. You have got to be one sick person to torture another human being! Why stoop to the level of a terrorist..that's what those guards have done!

Over the years and months America has recieved criticism and insults from many countries. But you must ask your self this what would the World be like without america? I will tell you.
The world would be over run by Nazis who would have very well ran rampant throughout Europe and not to mention fascists.
The countries that give alot of criticism to America include France, and Germany. Germany was once ran by a evil Man named Adolf Hitler. They should thank us for removing him. France was being smacked around in WW1 and WW2 by Germany and Austria-hungary. Who saved them,
AMERICA!
Also you call America the World Police, After world war 1 America refused to join the league of nations. The league of nations failed to stop Hitler, with the help of America the world may have not had had a world War 2 put isolationism stopped us. The reason America is the "World Police" Is to prevent massive global conflict. Any war can grow any dictator can challenge the world Hitler proved it. Comments?

If we were evil, we would just level cities and countries. We have the capability to do so. U.S. is criticised now for civilian deaths, but if we were truly evil many more would be wiped out (cluster bombs, etc. etc.). This and the fact that we do have high tech capablilities to indeed wipe out large masses of civilian population is proof that we are neither weak nor evil. Why would our soldiers put their lives on the line every day when we could just wipe out terrorists, insurgents, etc. more easily by leveling the city? We could do it indiscriminately from 40,000 ft with no risk to our soldiers.
