LPO is the Leading Petty Officer. That would be the senior First Class Petty Officer (E-6). Normally all administrative matters that are going up the chain of command must pass through the LPO. It's his job to make sure the paperwork is in the proper format.

The LPO will usually prepare watch bills. There are other duties too.

Yak Rider is correct... though, it doesn't have to be an E-6, nor technically the senior first-class petty officer.

I served as the LPO for FASOTRAGRUPAC, ASW Division long ago when I was an AW2, and there were three First Classes aboard... who just didn't want it or weren't qualified.

Duties were the class schedule, the students, the building, and anything else our CPO and Div O chose to pass onto me.
