The two countries ended up in an economic war, competing on a global level for limited natural resources such as oil, steel and fresh water... Numerous trade disputes and accusations of spying, sabotage, and each blaming the other for pollution and global warming. Both countries enter into an arms race, and start selling high tech military hardware to the enemies of the other, followed by a Chinese invasion of Taiwan (taiwan being the last remaining democracy in the region) while North Korea tries to provoke a US attack with their nuclear activity and then draw the Chinese into it. In the end we have the U.S. and China in an all out war along the Korean peninsula and in or abouts Taiwan.
Why do you feel that way? Because if you read the news on a regular basis you will see that that's the way things already seem to be headed. China is making major investments in their military, occassionally threatining Taiwan and refusing to recognize their right to exist as a soverign nation. North Korea has defied the US and the UN by creating a nuclear bomb, and the tensions between N and S Korea have never ended since the Korean war... We are already competing with China over oil contracts in the middle east and China is entering into a period of economic expansion the likes they've seen. If you recall, the last Korean war ended in a cease fire after the Chinese entered the war against the United States... That could easily be repeated given that the problems between the two Korea's are still unresolved.
Use that and you'll get on A on your paper dude!

The foundations for possible war are already being laid. Competition for strategic resources is number one. The Chinese are already using huge quantities of oil, metals, and they are working hard to overtake significant manufacturing sectors of the US as we outsource our technology and future to the Chinese to make Wall Streeters happy.
The other significant cause could be Taiwan. The People's Republic fully intends to bring Taiwan into the Communist fold and are even now building a Navy that can accomplish this goal. The Chinese know that they must be able to sieze and control Taiwan quickly enough to prevent interdiction by an American Naval Task Force. This is important, because if the initial assault fails or bogs down, and Taiwan is able to ask for assistance, which we have by pledged by Treaty, well then we all have a big problem. But if they can take over Taiwan in a lightning swift assault and show that they are in control, well then we will probably shake our heads and say bad China and bid Taiwan farewell.

U.S. as usual can't mind its own business, tries to help Taiwan to continue to arm itself, U.S. asks China to be more transparent in its military, China says mind your own F--- business and it basicaly just snowbals from there. But nothing will happen until all of the world's corporations profit from China's economic growth. Russia will be the x-factor.
Peace

i would think that during those fifty years ,that the united nations was divided so much, that countrys started dropping out because all the battles going on between countrys they could not stop ,and the superpowers used chemical or nucular weapons agence smaller countys because of the lack of vital resoures for the superpowers , by the time chinas explosion of economic growth in china.and we didnot use are head because we let corperations sell out our own country, since throught the years we gave and gave trillions of dollars to help every country in the way of arms, food assistance, supporting , and training troops of other countrys to toppel there other govenments, countrys buying out are own corperations,we borrow money from other countrys like china, if we do this we must be weak,if we were to fight china ,all other hostal countrys would aligne with china the countrys we helped in the past years would forget what had done for them in the past because it will be a new generation reading history books , where will it favor us as a country, we have to make the new generations of this country by changing our diplomatic stratiges , plus have the best tecnological safe guards in the world to be able to counter any threat, from space to sea to land with using robotic warriors because the way it looks we will have less peple then other countrys and hope that a higher power will be able to help us and that we have changed our deffects of charicter and to revauate our values from violence and jails and institutions

Knowing that China increased it's military budget by more than 10% per year the 10 years proir to 2007, I would assume that the war was started by Chinas quest for world domination.

China gets a really brutal dictator and he feels that the U.S. is responsible for destroying they culture and he wants to isolate China once and for all however Europe and America refuses to withdraw and end trading with the Chinese and China feels the most threatened by the US. So there.

A combination of population pressure, perceived cultural affinity for ethnic chinese abroad (i.e re-capturing or re-assimilating a diaspora depending on your point of view) and an accute surge in nationalism.
Pretty much your basic recipe for world war, season to taste.
