From what I've heard from a cousin who lives (temporarily) in Iran, the Iranian population believes that the US is going to attack Iran any time.

The president and others are making statements about Iran providing some alleged help to Iraqi resistance. However, at this point, American intelligence has zero credibility domestically and internationally.

To gain more support for an attack on Iran, some big event will need to be found or staged or made up. I believe that this is all about a strategic chess game played to generate more wealth for an elite few in the West.

I'm a bit disgusted with the smokescreen of an alleged war, which is nothing more than the long-term occupation of the Middle East.

The motive is clear: Oil will become very precious in the next few years:

What does he care? He's not going to wear a uniform and he's certainly not going to send his twin tarts, either. How many of those elected officials that are war-hawks do you think are encouraging their eligible children, relatives and families to enlist and volunteer to go to Afghanistan or Iraq? Look at the state of the Vet hospitals across the nation (I've been complaining about the conditions at Vet hospitals since the mid-80s) and also tell me how many of the 3,300 funerals for the Americans killed in action have the Prez and Veep attended...? War is profitable for Bush's and Cheney's cronies... ! Of course he's pushing for war... HE won't be wearing a uniform anytime soon anyway, nor his twin tarts!

EDITED: masterkoko876, the war will be short? You mean as short as Afghanistan and Iraq? Sorry, but I find it difficult to believe anything that comes from the White House nowadays. First they take out the nuclear plants, the missles and the missle plants and then we'll hear another contrived excuse for staying... all the meanwhile Halliburten and Cheney's cronies will continue to profiteer! HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?

How about Iran is pushing for a war with the US?

Who is really making the threatening statements?

I don't think the US will attack Iran. I think the UN will give Iran 12 years and 17 chances first just like they did with Iraq.

Bush has recently expanded the cap on the military, so more can join our overstretched military. This therefore would enable us to enter Iran, which Bush probably wants to do. The end result is nuclear war, nuclear war leads to extinction.

This is a Disad (Disadvantage) in Policy Debate, don't worry the impact is probably not real, debate is all about what could happen, but up to and including the entering Iran part is all true.

Or maybe its Iran that is pushing for a war with Bush. They think Bush is cornered by Congress and wouldn't respond to them. Unless they do something overt, however, I wouldn't look for any conflict with Iran any time soon. Other than name calling, that is.

I think people dont give bush enough credit for being a sneaky person.

Think about it. what happens ifbush starts talking about engaging Iran?
Especially amidst all these current mishaps around his administrration?

Talks of engaging Iran is an attempt to deviate attention from everything right now. so when he decides not to engage Iran, it was nothing more than him trying to buy time for his current stay the course ploy in Iraq.

Hes deviating attention, and clouding the real issues.

Come on -- if Bush attacked Iran right now, what do you think this would do to him politically, when 70% of people disagree with this war.

He would immediately lose most of his 30% supporters

Just a ploy!
Plus, U.S. could not by any means handle the fallout threat of such an idiotic attempt direct action against Iran would bring

it really is time for something of the international to make it very sparkling to GW that he's on his personal from right here and that we favor no more advantageous of his proper wing lunacy. you should imagine the deaths of 1000's of 1000's of Iraqis and 1000's of his international locations youthful adult adult males and females individuals ought to placed a end to his insanity and that the yank people ought to assert sufficient. it really is yet another case the position the risk of nuclear war is getting used to cover yet another agenda because in spite of in the journey that they'd the means they could could draw close that it should be suicide to to apply or perhaps threaten it and if it replaced into got here across that they'd provided terrorists that ought to have a similar effect. This corporation of attacking different international locations on the pretext of combatting terrorism is going to bring about WW3 except sanity is authorized to be effective. My very last aspect is that if one united states has atomic guns, why shouldn't each of the others? we could continuously be preparation taking away them all as quickly because it really is accessible. We have already got huge-spread guns, and the means to furnish them, that can make WW2 appear like a minor skirmish.

No, I think it's just you. He's doing a good job as it is for a man in his position. But please people, let's not make this question a political debate =]

But I think that Iran is the one pushing its boundaries. They won't respond to sanctions put down by the UN and you know they have all that nuclear firepower increasing day by day. They're going to get the urge to practice some of those weapons some more very soon.

Iran is pushing us. They are not yet ready to lob one over here, but they are crazy enough to do and probably will if the UN allows them.

Bush is a lame duck for real in about 7 months.
He is trying to salvage his presidency by "making nice" with people.
If he is going to invade IRAN he is going to have to do it HIMSELF.
(AN ARMY OF ONE:):):))
He isn't going to do anything but fade away.
HE IS THE WORST THING TO HAPPEN TO THIS COUNTRY IN over 200 years.
