The war is in Iraq because the leader of a country based on people living the way they choose, chose to decide for another country that chose a different way to live was wrong. So, they are beating that country into submission until that country changes the way they have lived for thousands of years. Without being asked by the people of that country for assistance in changing themselves.

You're ignorant. (Hey, you said to call you that.)
There is no war in Iraq. We sent troops to enforce a UN resolution calling for Saddam Hussein to allow weapons inspectors to do their jobs, abandon his WMD programs, and cede power to a democratic governement.
Our military might toppled his regime in less than a month, and we set about building a new government. We still lose troops to foreign (non-Iraqi) and domestic (Iraqi) extremists who do not want a secular, democratic government in Iraq.

Im getting tired of answering this question over and over lol. Dont listen to all the Democratic spew your about to get about finishing "Daddys War" or oil.
We are there to take down Saddam, establish a new government, give that government the power to maintain stability, and stabilize the new country. Now look, the War is over; we won. Let me say that again, the War in Iraq is won. But the Occupation has begun, we have to make the government step up. Weve given them the power, supplies to fight the Insurgetns but theyre being lazy...seriously, they wont fight for themselves. I say we leave them there, and that will MAKE them finish the job.

The war in Iraq is to prevent it from being here in the USA. Do we just ignore the murder of thousands of people?

As G. Bush said so many times, "They hate us for our freedom!" Besides, at first it looked like an easy win.

Because we can...
It's better than doing nothing...
And it was time to show the terrorists that we won't take it any more.
