One of the female soldiers interviewed said that the guys think a woman in the military is either "a b*tch, a who', or a dike". The women told stories about having to protect themselves against sexual abuse from their male counterparts. Does this mean women shouldn't be soldiers? Why can't men control themselves?

i was in colorado at ft. colins, i went down to CU and was hanging out with my cousin. a lot of people there did not support our troops. recruiters are not allowed to visit the high schools in that area.... why? i don't understand the reasoning. do you live in a college town? do you live next to a army base? what are your feelings towards our troops?

I am joining the Army and will be in training for about 7 months. I will not be allowed to have a personal vehicle while in training. I am still making payments on my car. Would it be smarter to sell my car and save all that money?

Honestly, I think that it would have been acceptable. In history when countries went to war the winner got control of land or resouces.

I am not sure about exactly what branch, something that isnt behind a desk just typing reports, something where you are out with the troops and at least get some good weapons training. Anyone who has been know how hard it is to get in, and once your in how hard the schooling is, how long and what it teaches etc? I know only one language but am willing to elarn arabic if necessary.

What happens if you aren't able to pick up the other language, where do they put you?

Hello!

A friend of a friend of a friend (!) was activated. I'm not sure where he's been sent, but it's in/near the Sandbox.

I'm trying to convince my friend that it is totally fine to get his mailing address and write to him, send him e-mails, care packages, etc. She thinks it's kinda weird since she doesn't actually know him. But I seem to recall that you used to be able to send stuff to ANYONE in the service - and I would think that those serving would be happy to get letters & stuff - even if they don't know the sender personally.

Can you give me some insight? Am I stuck in the "old days"? Or do servicemembers receive things like this sometimes?

THANKS!

I'm considering the Army, but worried about basic training. Any tips out there from people that have gone through it? I'm worried about that the fact that I just turned 30 and most everyone else is like 18. I scored a 74 on the ASVAB and my line scores are all atleast a 115. Is this good or should I concider something else?

I've been out of the service for over 25 years. I still wake up to this recurring nightmare that I have orders to go to Turkey.

Yes I was there for over a year but WHY do I nightmares about that place.

Anybody else have this problem?

I know Vietnam Vets have nightmares -- my hat is off to each and everyone of you who served.

What about the rest of you?
