I read in the news today that there are 5 democratic veterans in congress. (All against the war.) Are there any Iraq veterans on the republican side?

There is only one Iraq veteran in congress.

The number of Veterans in the US Congress and Senate, actually went down after the 2006 Midterm Elections
In the 109th Congress, there were 140 veterans.
In the new 110th Congress, there are only 130 veterans.
2 Democrat Veterans were Elected in 2006.
8 Republican Veterans lost Reelection in 2006

No, all the Republicans are still serving proudly in the Military and not cut and running on their buddies to run for congress.
There are Republican veterans from other wars.
BTW, Rep. Duncan Hunter has a son who is serving as a USMC Officer and has two tours in Iraq. How many Dems have offspring serving in Iraq?

absolutely. have 2 cousins, uncle, and best friend that had tours in Iraq. they all support the war. they all see why it is so important that we are there and that we finish the job. the dem veterans in congress would feel the same way if they weren't involved in politics. they get caught up in party line battles and clouds their vision. i'd trust the joe-schmo veteran versus a congressman veteran any day.

A few other vets also ran as Dems but lost. I didn't hear of any running as Repubs.
