It sounds like you want to go 19D, Cav Scout verses 19K which is Armor Crewman.
Sorry, but if you are going 19D, then the odds are pretty good you will split time between Humvees and BFV's. It is dependant on the mission and on what the Unit's MTOE (equipment) is.
(update: Note: I've been out of the Army for over 16 years, so I am not sure if 19D's are still using M2 Bradleys in Heavy Armor units. Check with your recruiter.)
By the way, 19D have to get on the ground and scout around. Just because they use vehicles, does not mean that they don't walk.
With the Army shifting it's emphasis from a full Air-Land Battle War to the small intensity conflicts, the type of vehicle you will ride will shift from the heavier Bradley's over to a quicker an more manueverable Humvee. Are there Cost Benefits? yes. Sometimes, speed is needed over armor protection in an ambush.
If you go 19K, you will be trained for the M1A1 tank.
Hope this helps.

I did six years in the army in the 90s.
I'm assuming you are going in as enlisted. In this case, just make sure your sign up for the tank crew or gunner MOS. It is a specific job that requires specialized training. Most of the guys driving humvees are infantry, MPs, or other guys just trying to get from point A to point B.
Bottom line, if you sign up as tank crew, you will most likely end up in a bradley. Keep in mind the army always reserves the right to change make you do what ever is best for the mission at hand, especially once you get in a combat zone.

I will assume you mean that you want to be in an position where you would be in an armored vehicle when you go to war. (most soldiers will ride in a HMMWV at one time or another)
if you join an Armor as an enlisted member you will be operating an M1 main battle tank unless you are in a stryker unit or are a driver for an officer at Battalion or above.
M2 Bradley's are an Infantry Vehicle so you would need to join the Infantry to be on a Bradly crew.

A Bradley is an infantry MOS (11M, I think). The Army is the only branch that guarantees an MOS.

The Bush administration has had 6 years and billions of dollars to ensure the utmost safety of our brave fighting men and women. I'm sure the Humvee is perfectly safe.
