If I just joined the Army artillery as an airborne 13f and am leaving in a little less than 30 days. How long do you think it will be, between boot camp, individual training, jump school etc. before I will leave the country to Iraq or wherever I end up being stationed. Do you think I will be able to go before 08?

From a veteran here. Today's military has got to be one of the best of all time! Discriminating against the enemy while protecting their own and laying it down for generations to come. HOOAH!

I am currently enlisted into the Marine Corps DEP, i have to pick my MOS soon and i dont know what i want to choose, but i have narrowed it down between BX- Network Security/MAGTF planner and 03- Infantry. I like aspects of both these jobs but i dont know which to pick. The BX looks good for any other technical related jobs imight go into while Infantry is good fun and a physical lifestyle. If anyone can offer me some advice or anthing i'd be appreciative.

The nations we go to war with like Iraq have a very small Navys. Is our Navy a transfer of wealth to defense companies who make big donations to the elected ?. Should we spend some of this money on health care or education ?

Well here's what i noticed: At the end of world war II we occupied southern Korea, with Russia occupying the North. This set the stage for a civil war or conflict which to this day is unresolved (sure they have a cease fire but it could erupt at any moment) Compare this situation with Iraq.... we go in and occupy that country and surprise surprise we've divided that country too and they are on the verge of a civil war, if not plunged into it already. Ok so now on to Vietnam.... well we weren't wanted there, we weren't needed there, many of our soldiers and vietnamese died and in the end it was a HUGE MISTAKE. Sounds just like present day Iraq to me. So when will we learn to keep our country out of other countries affairs??The more we claim to "Help" the more people die and the more conflict we cause and unfortunately i don't think we'll learn our lesson until after our country is wiped from the earth..... Liberals will probaly agree and conservatives might not, OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!

In that order.

Liberals, you need to put your countries security before yourself, withdrawing the troops will not save anyone lives, nor will it end any conflicts. Infact it will do the opposite. If you dont have anything nice to say, than shut up and let us finish this job. If you come up with a feasible strategy to combat global terrorism that does not include war than I would like to hear it.

For those of you that felt like trying to be disresptful, u should know who u r talking to first. I have served my country in civilain Law Enforcement, as an MP, an Investigator with CID, K-9 Handler and have deployed plenty to Iraq. I ask the question because I have a civilian job in Law Enforcement now that doesn't afford much time to go to drills or to worry about schools and deployments. I work in a UC status and I am unable to conform to military regs. If I were to be activated again I would lose a substantial amount of money and the harship would cause great strain on my wife and children...like my current job doesn't do that.

Not only did I leave the civilian sector to serve, but I have 2 brothers with 25 yrs service. A PATRIOT I am, I just choose to now do it at home to make the difference HERE!!

SO, before you get off on answering a question without the guts to get a response, think before u talk!!

Just wondering if a person begins getting paid immediately upon being shipped off to boot camp. Or is there a waiting period? Or do they have to wait until after boot camp?
