I am currently enlisted into the Marine Corps DEP, i have to pick my MOS soon and i dont know what i want to choose, but i have narrowed it down between BX- Network Security/MAGTF planner and 03- Infantry. I like aspects of both these jobs but i dont know which to pick. The BX looks good for any other technical related jobs imight go into while Infantry is good fun and a physical lifestyle. If anyone can offer me some advice or anthing i'd be appreciative.

Well. Here is the thing. There is not much call for trained killers in the civilian world. Not ususally. Right now, I have a friend who was 03 - assigned to a weapons platoon. He signed up with a civilian contractor for a year providing security for them in Baghdad. He is making 175,000 dollars for that year. However, this will not ALWAYS be the case.

However, network security is a growing market, as well as IT in general. These will ALWAYS be in demand.

I was in the infantry. I loved it. But did nothing for me out of the Corps. I have a friend who was in the air wing, cobra mechanic. He is now making big bucks with Southwest Airlines...

I would say look at what you would like to do when you get out. If you want to do something in the line of law enforcement or security (non computer), go for the infantry. If you want to go into something tech related, do the networking.

And thank you very much for your service to our country. My son is thinking military, possibly the Corps, in a couple years (he's 16 now). I'll be proud of him whether he does or doesn't, but the fact that he is even considering service to his country makes me proud now.

Network security will give you the training you need if you decide to get out after your first hitch. I joined the Infantry when I was 17 and switched to computer repair after 7 years. The Infantry was fun, but it does get old, quick.

Go with infintry. If looking to career paths after your service, you will never again have the oppertunity to learn the leadership that you will gain. The technology can be leared at any colloge, junior college, or online studies.

I was Army infantry, and my commander asked me once wouldn't I rather be working on computers? I honestly said yes.
