I signed my contract and swore in at MEPS for the Navy a week ago. I would leace for basic in June, but MEPS called my recruiter a week later stating that I had a theft under $300 from 8 years ago, and I did not finish my 24 hour community service sentence. Now i am worried that I will be discharged. My recruiter says he is doing everything he possibly can.My recruiter knew about the charge, but we did not know about the remainig community service, and my recruiter told me not to mention it at MEPS.Could I still be eligible for the Army.?

I am going into the coast guard soon and I've always wanted to full time RV. So I figured I could maybe start now instead of when I retire from the coast guard. Is this possible, I know they give you BAH. Would it cover the cost of the nightly campground rate (about 20-35 dollars a day)? And just to make sure, you retire after 20 years like the other branches correct?

Thanks for all the help!

How does the military handle women and men being together in Iraq and other remote places? Are they kept seperate to keep sex down? With mixed group of people in their 20's there, I would think there would be a bit of 'stress relief' going on.

I know that military recruiters are legally allowed on high school campuses in order to persuade students to enlist, but what are antiwar groups allowed to do? Are they even allowed on campus without getting into trouble?

Is Blair withdrawing his troops out of Iraq with Bush is brining more in so Israel can do Bush’s dirty work and bomb Iranian nuclear sites and the British can be out of the south in fear of the Persian Shahab-3 landing in amongst them? Which therefore Bush keeps his word for no military action used in the sanctions that were put on Iran?
Are we seeing the first stages of war ?

They come and harass family members hoping to be attacked so they can sue for insurance money the family receives. I heard about this today on the radio!!! I should not be shocked; but I am. There are some unbelievably scummy people on this planet. There is a group who goes out to the funerals and creates a circle around the family to protect them from these people. Check out the web site. A lot of the members ride motorcycles but you do not have to ride to be a member.

I had a theft under $300 about 8 years ago. After i swore in a week later, my recruiter called me and sd my paperwork from MEPS came back stating that I might have a warrant because I did not finish my 24 community service. I don't remember but i thought my case was closed. I live in MD and this happened in NY. I have called numerous times to the NY courthouse, and was told there is no record of a warrant or anything. So i don't know what will happen. Can i be kicked out og the Navy now cause of this. My recruiter sd he is doing everything possible too see what he can do.

The US or Israel , I personally think it will be Israel the first bomb Iran tests and then the Jericho Missles are gonna fly. We have been at war with Iran since 1979 so i really think a preimptive strike on our part would be great might as well do it now while we got troops and equipment over there. That president of Iran is nuttier than a fruitcake and hes got the little man syndrome soon as he tactical nukes hes gonna try to nuke Israel for sure. GW needs to get his head out his but and say screw Iraq and take care of Iran now before its too late. Love to hear your feedback

I served 7 years in the military, and its hilarious when military people on yahoo and other sites boast about themselves. The percentage of murderers, rapist, thieves, cons, pedophiles, and just all around bad people are the same in and out of the military.
Like I said I was in the military for 7 years. Only a very very small percentage of people in the military want to go to war for the country, thats just what we say to our parents and the local newspapers to get respect. The reality is your paycheck goes up by almost %50 when you go to war, and thats all we talk about. Me and other %90 werent talking about defending freedom and about our patriotic duty and all that other blah blah, we only cared about the cars we were gonna buy and the bills we were gonna pay off after we got back. So dont let these "military"people on this board talk down you because you didnt serve your country. Most of the time the only reason they retired in the military is because they were financially afraid.

Any ex-military out there who got out early and regreted it...and vice versa...

I can get out now and get a job making about 20K a year more than what I make in the USAF...but if I stay in 10 more years I can still get the job that pays more but I'll also have a retirement check...the question is...do I put up with the military way of life for 10 more years...or get out while the getting is good?
