I have always wondered this, but I just thought to ask here.

Whenever you see someone in the Army, they have a patch of the American flag on their right shoulder. But, the American flag on this patch is backwards: that is, the field of blue is on the right side of the flag, as opposed to the left.

Does this signify something? Can someone tell me why they do this? I am not sure if other branches do this, but I know the army does. If you do answer, please show some source, because people tend to make up answers alot on here.

General George Patton said in World War Two:

"Americans do not surrender." They make others surrender.
"The only thing to do when a son of a ***** looks cross-eyed at you is to beat the hell out of him right then and there."
"There is nothing democratic about war. It is a straight dictatorship. The use of force to attain the end desired."

The important thing to do is to make sure the other poor son of a ***** dies for his country.

Bush calls this a success, that Britain has decided to pull out at the same time that America is debating sending more troops in.
Exactly how is this a success?

I just read Cheney's response to Tony Blair pulling 1600 troops out of Iraq, and Cheney commented that he is playing into the hands of the terrorist, because that is what they want.
If Dick Cheney and President Bush is so commited to rid a foreign country of undersireables then why don't they send their rotten spoiled brat daughters over there.
If there was a draft, they might even go,but then again Mary Cheney has a good excuse for not going because she is gay.
I wonder if she is just saying that so she doesen't have to go to war.
I wonder how Old Man Bush Sr.would like it if his grandaughters would have to go fight in Iraq. I think you would see an American troop withdrawl real fast ,if the Bush girls were to go to Iraq.
Why can't America mind its own business and stay out of another countries internal affairs?

The Washington Post and other reliable news sources have reported that the medical care given to wounded troops at several rehab facilities is substandard. One cited is building 18, right across the street from Walter Reed Hospital. This facility is infested with mice and roaches, and the building is in a state of disrepair. Many troops are also being denied medical and financial benefits and their cases are stuck in the maze of bureaucratic red tape.

As of yesterday, no one from the Bush administration had expressed their outrage, nor did they take any measures to address this critical issue. After hearing this report, Barack Obama, along with a fellow Senator immediately drafted a bill to help these wounded troops. Today, of course, Bush, embarrassed by his inaction, is going through the motions and getting on the bandwagon—a day late and a dollar short. Instead of assuming the role as leader, he took a position as a caboose. So, tell me again how much he supports the troops?

Do you think that veterans who have served in combat are given 'the best this country has to offer' as myriad politicians have intoned is deserved by those veterans? Or are parades (if given) and an honorable discharge enough for those not 'wounded'? What should be given to those totally disabled? Partially disabled? Have you ever written your representatives about this? Ever talked to them directly about this? Is what you have done enough? Do any of you really care?

Myunderstanding is a lot of people in both the US and the UK have been charged with various terrorist charges for having plans or even having discussed ideas verbally. It is obvious that countries have a right to have defensive plans but for them to have clear attack plans must surely be treated the same as preparation of terrorist acts if you have not been attacked.
