Do you think that veterans who have served in combat are given 'the best this country has to offer' as myriad politicians have intoned is deserved by those veterans? Or are parades (if given) and an honorable discharge enough for those not 'wounded'? What should be given to those totally disabled? Partially disabled? Have you ever written your representatives about this? Ever talked to them directly about this? Is what you have done enough? Do any of you really care?

When I was medically discharged both the Army and the VA in my opinion compensated me very fairly. The VA health care system is pain in the rear, I'll admit that, but it does work. As far as the people that surround me? Their opinions are the only ones that matter to me, not everyone else.

I did not do it for the compensation. I did it because it needed to be done.

And the only opinions that matter to me are those of people who have _earned_ my respect.

Yes, they're adequately compensated. No, I've never written or talked to my representatives to thank them for supporting our troops. Yes, I've done more than enough. No, I don't really care about strangers, or their life decisions.
