here in the US Virgin Islands, a month doesn't go by that 20-30-50 immigrants aren't busted......they are brought in by small high speed Cigarette type boats from Dutch St Maarten, about 100 miles away.......they are almost all Chinese, that travel by freighter to SXM, a trip of some `12,000 miles and several months...these poor people contract with the smugglers......or slavers would be more like it........and sign IOUs for tens of thousands of dollars......if they make it into the US they work in sweatshops.restaurants and factories for 10 years to pay off the slavers....
between Puerto Rico and Haiti, there is probably one 40 foot boat with 50 to 100 people.....yes that's right 100 people ona 40 footer!... every other day trying to sneak in to the US ( PR is US territory, as is the Virgins)......about a third make it, a third are caught by the Coast Guard and third die at sea.
Funny, how so many people trash the United States.......while so many are dying to get here...

Many ships carrying illegal immigrants sail to the US each year. Most of these have destinations on the West Coast and come from Asia (mostly China.) The normal course is for these ships to off load the illegals to smaller waiting boats about three miles out in international water.
Few ships risk entering US ports with their human cargo still on board.

Yes, they come in any type of ship they can, or so we're told. Generally though, they come in either really large or really small ships:
Really large:
- Usually they sneak into containers and get loaded onto the ship with thousands of other containers
- Oil tankers are said to be hiding places
- Cruise ships
Small:
- Motorboats, they dash for the border as fast as they can
- Row boats or sail boats ... look like pleasure craft, easy to disguise

Yes and they are coming for you!
actually, on a sadder note, there are almost 20,000 children and adults trafficked into the US each year for sex and other sweatshop/indentured work.
