They are not so gloaty now are they. To recap, WW2 was won by many countries all playing a part and not just Americans.

You must be British! Let me tell you, we never gloated about saving your cans during WW2! We didn't know how you held out so long without any help except arms from us. We felt that the British were & are some of the bravest people on earth! FDR wanted nothing more than to come to your aid but his hands were tied until the Japanese attacked us. Then to his relief Germany & Italy declared war on us & finally we could get into it! Heck, we had men going to Canada enlisting in the Canadian army & air force just so they could come & help. Most of the people of this country wanted to help, but we had some politicians that wanted to keep us out of war. I was 6 yrs old when we entered the war & when it was over, I'll never forget VE day! I'm very sorry that you feel that way about us.
We also understand why you are pulling out of Iraq, Americans don't think you are leaving us to fight alone, we just know that the help you have given has been greatly appreciated. It was an act of friendship between our two countries. We, as a nation, thank you. WW2 was won by the British & the US. We won together. We never gloated! Never!

Totally agree with the FACT that the deluded yanks supported the IRA hand-over-fist, and only stopped after they saw terrorism on their own soil. You yanks have paid for the deaths of thousands of innocent British and Irish civilians - YOU'VE GOT BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS.
It's because you yanks have no identity - you're all either jewish-american, spanish-american, half mexican, irish-american, scottish-american, welsh-american, or any other combination of half-breed. Because of this you support the so-called 'freedom fighters' around the world (terrorists to everyone else), in your deluded, warped minds, you support the romantic freedom-fighter, struggling to fight the evil oppressors of your homelands. Reality is, that most of you couldn't even point out where Ireland is on a map, or you'd just say 'it's East of the English Isles'.

Well they may gloat about saving us we know it just is not true. They would never have been in the war if the Japs had not bombed them and Germany declared war on them,(NOT the other way round). They have never won a war on their own, even the war of independence was won with the big help of the French.
They couldn't even win the civil war and that was against themselves. That is why they need allies, and also it adds a modicum of justification if they can say' well the Brits are with us'.
Even if they do try to bomb our troops as often as they can ! A point of information. The world wide web was invented by an Englishman- Tim Berners-Lee. So there !

THIS American never gloated about WW2 or any other war, for that matter. In case you aren't aware, MOST Americans are disgusted by the Iraq fiasco, and we want OUR troops home just as much as you want yours. The worry from regular American people like myself stems from the fact that we KNOW our troops need help from other nations. The only way to get everyone out of there is to stick together and make it happen.

Only a few of our troops are coming home, the rest will have to stay until the job is done..
oh and lets get one thing straight! American troops didn't win the 2nd world war! American industry did! without it DDAY wouldn't have been possible , nor any of the island hoping invasions in the Pacific and the final defeat of japan!.

Well said Henno the boss i couldn`t have done better my self .all the years America were funding the IRA terrorists to plant bombs all over England they called them Freedom Fighters .Terrorist only applies if the Freedom fighters attack america The war on terror was nothing to do with us until we aided and abetted Americas illegal war on iraq ,and we got the consequenses .but still not nowhere near the amount of terrorism America funded the IRA to carry out here in England .Bring the troops home were only Americas Alies when THEY want something .

I am an American and am not "worried" about British troops being ordered to not help America finish the job in Iraq. We know better than to expect our "allies" to be there to help us, and we don't need them. And yes, next time you need America we will forgive what you are doing now and save your pitiful butt again so that you may go on hating America and being jealous of us. As for you saying Sarah is not able to generate an avatar, that is a joke and only serves to illustrate your lack of ability to use logic and truth to support your fallacies, so you revert to unfounded attacks on those who disagree with you.
Don't you just love being able to use the American controlled Internet and American owned Yahoo to lie about America and the American people? Ummmm. If you read the post from the BBC. I believe it says that London has recieved no indication from Washington that they urge them to stay. Frankly, I don't want American's to stay either. Your country is obviously on the right track at this juncture in time to get them the heck out.

The American's are worried because right now they are trying to fix a problem that the British started in the first place. We figure that since you Brits created the whole modern era mid-east mess that at least you could hang out in the safer parts of Iraq and do a patrol every now and then.
