Military - October 2006

We need them hear to stop the violence. Two of my students have been shot and killed in the last 5 years. One 16, the other 12.
The Oakland murder rate is at an all time high. The President has never visited Oakland nor his father so he probably does not know about the problems here.

to take some test and get promoted before i leave and catch up on some things before i went.. what website is it? i would ask my recruiter but one of my recruiters just sold his house and is gone for 10 days another one left because hes getting promoted to 1st sgt. and the last one is out because his wife is getting her hand rebuilt because she dropped a spoon in the sink disposal. so where do i go to get promoted online before i go??

My man is stationed at Fort Campbell. He was in Iraq up until the 29th of Sept. When he first got back he claimed that they were on lock down and can't leave the base. The reason is because of some of the guys getting DUI's and getting in trouble. He doesn't call me and is online very sparadically. He says that they are working all the time and he has no time to get a cell phone. He is in the 101st Division 2. If you are in Fort Campbell or know someone who is there can you tell me if they are really on lock down? I am not a fan of being given the run around and want to believe him...but I believe my women's intuition more. Thanks for your imput.

do most people enlist in the military because they feel they are not smart enough for college and think it is a easy way to get money, or do they enlist to protect their country. I believe they feel like they can fit into society much better as a veteran and it is an easy way for themto make money

I usually don't allign myself with conservative politics, but when I see all these people on the street with their signs saying, "Honk if you want to bring our troops home" it really makes me fed up with my fellow liberals. So I ask you, what would actually happen if tomorrow, Iraqis woke up and there wasn't a single American in their country? Would things get better? Would they get worse? I would especially like to hear from anyone currently living in the Middle East, as I am particularly curious as to your opinions.

You enlist and a year later get your GI Bill, you start going to a 2 or 4 year college while in the Army..Once you finish school, Will you get some promotion?

-Like if you got your bachelors degree (4 year), Is their a certain rank you would have to be to take OCS or could you take it right when you got out of school at like probably E-4/E-5?

-Or at a 2 year school getting your associates degree in something, would they promote you somewhere up in the enlistment ranks? Because if you enlist w/ an associated they start you of at like E-4 or sometihng like that..Would they promote you somewhat if you got it while aready enlisted

--Any answers to this question would be GREATLY appreciated

(PS-I cant go to a recruiter at the moment so please dont tell me 2 go ask one of them)

Mind you, they said if I get a Green Card, they will take me, but INS won't just give me a Green Card, and I'm not going to spend time trying to get one through employer sponsorship (which only can happen if I apply for a job lacking qualified Americans --- unlikely) when Alberta has the fastest growing economy of any state or province.

How does the policy of just sit and do nothing help us achieve anything in Iraq?

We don't have enough troops to pacify Iraq and help them build a democracy.

We won't enact a draft to get the troops we need.

Am I missing something?

What exactly is Bush's plan besides having our troops sit in Iraq and slowly get killed off?

What exactly are our goals in Iraq? How are we supposed to achieve them if the president is just adamant about digging in his heels and doing nothing?

Is Bush just being stubborn or keeping the US military goals and objectives secret from the American people.

Why do some people see his stubborness as good leadership?
