I mean honestly what is wrong with what seems like most people on this board and in America? We are fighting people that would kill any of us because we are AMERICANS. There absolutely no morale in this country and it is an absolute disgrace. All people do in this country is rely on the bogus liberal media who twists things arounfd to make Republicans look like fools when in fact they are actually doing something about the people who are killing all the Iraqis and OUR TROOPS. No but we are suppose to pull out of Iraq right now and abandon what we started nearly 4 years ago because we are losing 100 people a week. Are you kidding me? Look at any other major wars, in some of them we lost 10 times more in one week then in this entire war. All any of you have to do is look back at 9/11, do you remember how horrible that was? Thats what we are fighting for, because if we werent fighting over there wed be fighting over here with attacks on our soil everyday. Would you like that?

...history indeed tells us what the Western offensive should do in Iraq - but who's big enough to withdraw. The refusal of Bush and Blair has made them a laughing stock in both the countries they are head of. Toppling Saddam was one thing, but that was only half the job done. Will we end up leaving Iraq with heads held high, or defeated solodiers who, just like the early seventies return to their mother country with scorn and hate?

OK this is for all you retired X Military out there. As a former Air Born Ranger 101st, I don't see how someone (Bush) could have served and be forgotten. At night in the field I could tell who was were by there breathing, how can someone spend time in the field and be totally forgotten by the other guys in his unit? This just doesn’t add up.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- A senior U.S. diplomat said the United States had shown ''arrogance'' and ''stupidity'' in Iraq but was now ready to talk with any group except Al-Qaida in Iraq to facilitate national reconciliation.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera television aired late Saturday, Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department offered an unusually candid assessment of America's war in Iraq.

''We tried to do our best but I think there is much room for criticism because, undoubtedly, there was arrogance and there was stupidity from the United States in Iraq,'' he said.

''We are open to dialogue because we all know that, at the end of the day, the solution to the hell and the killings in Iraq is linked to an effective Iraqi national reconciliation,'' he said, speaking in Arabic from Washington. ''The Iraqi government is convinced of this.''

A new poll suggests two-thirds of Americans believe the US is losing the war in Iraq, a proportion which analysts says could translate into a drubbing at the polls for Mr Bush's Republican Party in next month's mid-term elections.

The last 2 world wars have been caused by a country with economic and military superiority, and most other wars in history have been caused by countries in the same position.

We are led to believe that the threat to world peace will come from a 3rd world despot, or will it.

If it does happen who do you think will cause it, personally I think it will be the U.S.

Personally, I don't think taking all our troops home now would cause the bloodshed to end because if we did take all the troops home then it would be Iraqi citizens dying instead of US troops. But what could be done so that nobody dies anymore?

Remember the Muslim Chaplin that was caught in Gitmo spying (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/11/25/terror/main585602.shtml) ? Do these things weight on your mind when serving with Muslims?

Also, why did we round up the Japs into interrment camps during WWII but allow Muslims to roam free and even serve in our Armed Forces now?

"A senior US state department official has said that the US has shown 'arrogance and stupidity' in Iraq.

Alberto Fernandez told al-Jazeera TV the US was now willing to talk to any insurgent group apart from al-Qaeda in Iraq, to reduce sectarian bloodshed.

His remarks came after President George W Bush discussed changing tactics with top military commanders."

This is the new Vietnam, George - you will never win and the Iraqi fighters will keep on killing your unfortunate men until you take what's left of them home!

I recently found a box of visibly old ammunition. Around 600 rounds, here in the Philippines while remodelling an old church.

The rounds appear to be pistol rounds, have a slight taper on them and are ball rounds. I checked the shells for caliber, but found 43, 44, or 45 stamped on the bottom with no manufacturer information. All the rounds are identical in dimensions however, despite the different markings on their shells.

I have researched the internet for any information regarding these rounds but my search turned up nothing. I suspect that the numbers stamped on the shells are their years of manufacture. If so, then they would quite obviously be WW2 vintage. However, these rounds do not look like any of the cartridges I've seen on the more popular WW2 personal weapons.
