I have argued the same point as you. And I can not fathom why people would choose to believe the libs. The stupidity in this country is at an all time high. First they say that we are only in Iraq for oil. Then they say it's because Bush didn't like Saddam Hussein, like he needed a reason. Then they say it was because of misinformation about weapons of mass destruction. Which is it? They couldn't stick to one story. Our troops are bravely fighting over there, without being drafted mind you, for a cause they can never understand. We have Muslims in our street preaching that the White House will burn and freedom will be obliterated and they are holding hands with the same groups that spew their liberal crap all over our country. What percentage of Muslims vote Democrat? I bet you it's in the high 90's. Since 1979 countries like Iran and Lebanon have been attacking us and killing our people and we have idiots in our own country defending them. Trying to understand it is impossible. The truth is that there is no logic behind it. These libs could never fight for our freedom because they don't want freedom. They will never understand that once these fanatics get a nuclear bomb they won't be threatening us anymore. They'll act. The libs will be crying when they have to face Mecca 3 times a day and have to give up their gay loving abortion baby killing freedoms.

I was in high school when 9/11 happened. It was first period, Law and Justice class. And when I think about that day the first thing that I remember is the footage of Iraqi men, women and children dancing in the streets buring american flags. Why? Simply because they don't like us. They're taught from a very young age that we are the enemy. You have to seriously question the "innocence" of people who will teach their children to hate complete strangers.
So, after I graduated I enlisted. And I did it because I knew that if I didn't I wouldn't be able to look at myself anymore. I wouldn't be able to look in the mirror without feeling like a coward. But most of all I did it because they brought the war here first, and if you are going to live in the greatest country in the world, you damn well better do something to protect it.
I signed up, and two months after I finished Basic and AIT, I was at Ft Dix for mobe. training. I spent a year in Iraq traing Iraqi police so that maybe someday they can regain control of their own country. And never once have I regretted signing that dotted line. Not when I was working 12 hour shifts in 140 degree heat. Not when my compound was being subjected the mortar and RPG attacks, and especially not right now.
I really don't give a flying rats *** why Bush went into Iraq. I don't care if none of the hijackers were Iraqi. I don't care, because I know what kind of job I did over there, and I'm damn sure proud of it. Serving your country- doing something that less than 1% of the US population is willing to do, fills you with a sense of pride that cannot be gained waving a sign in protest.
You ask any of the people that I was deployed with and they will tell you that this degraded state of moral and patriotic duty that has infected a majority of Americans is an embarassment. It is the shame that makes this country somewhat less than it was.
Yes, hundreds and hundreds of Americans have lost their lives. But they lost them so that their brothers and sisters and children would not have to. They did it so that those that are weaker in both mind and conviction could watch from home and thank God that it was someone else over there- not them.
And to propose that we pull out now- when the job is not completed, is to trivialize the deaths of soldiers and civilians alike. To pull out now, would be like telling all of those who died, or were mutilated that it was for no reason. That they suffered physicaly and endured the mental anguish of war because someone made a mistake.
You don't have to agree with the Bush administration. You live in America-you have that right. But for God's sake don't you dare pass your opinion off as the moral majority, because you don't speak for me, and you most definately don't speak for the brave soldiers that I served with.
You can protest all you want. You can wave your little signs. And you can shake your head when someone brings up Iraq at your next dinner party. But remember that your actions and your open disdain for our government does not stop there. You cannot protest the war while suporting the trooops. There is no middle ground.

True, we are killing people that hate Americans. We're also creating people that hate Americans. When you hear sanitized phrases like "collateral damage", you also know what that really means. Think for a second about collateral damage if it was happening in America. Say the police go to arrest a murder suspect and there's a shootout. Instead of just killing him, we blow up his house and the three houses surrounding it. Now you have 3 families that had nothing to do with this, but are suffering the consequences. Is this going to make them more or less likely to support the police in the future?
We could've avoided alot of this mess if Rumsfeld had listened to the generals on the ground before the war started. He chose to go with "invasion lite" instead of giving them the additional 50,000-100,000 troops they were asking for. We had enough troops to take Iraq, but not nearly enough to secure it. I often wonder how much time was given to planning to keep the peace, seems almost like it was an afterthought. As a result, we didn't have enough troops to guard things like munitions dumps, the insurgents that are killing our troops right now are using weapons that should've been destroyed before they ever got their hands on them.
Should we pull out of Iraq now? How can we? It'll be a disaster for us, Iraq, and that entire region. But the reasons we went into Iraq in the first place, WMD, Bin Laden, etc all ended up being incorrect reasons. It's a fact that intelligence was manipulated by the Bush administration to justify the action. I think he had good intentions, create a democracy in the Middle East, give the people some power. But he didn't have the brains to pull it off, that's where the Republicans have failed. Sad to say, I don't think the Democrats would've done much better. Bush is at least decisive, the Democrats dither on every question, don't seem to make any decisions at all.

First off, from what I've read on these boards "most" people talk a pretty good game. Whether For or Against the war...answers I've read all have good points and bad points. You, yourself make good points. This country IS being fed BS from the media. We are watching and listening to the medias interpretation of ALL issues in this world (not just about wars and terror threats and so on) And their interpretations are bogus. Not ALL the time, but it happens too often for me to count. The media needs to be taken accountable for giving false reports. They disgust me. The other point you have made is to look back at 9-11 and remember why we went to AFGHANISTAN in the first place. (Not Iraq) Afghanistan was for "revenge" Punish those who raped our country. Did we accomplish our goal there? Not really. Osama is still at large. And we have a growing list of America haters. So who is at fault...Republicans? Democrats? This is where you make your bad points...Why are we and why have we for centuries segregated our country with all these political parties? We do not live in a black and white world....LOTS of colors are present, not even just grey. I don't consider myself to belong to any one particular party. I am what you would call...an american citizen. Whats wrong with people you ask? There are too many iggnorant, arrogant, smart ***, know it alls out there that think because they feel strongly about "their" oppinion that the whole nation should jump on their band wagon. We have completly lost our way and that I will agree with. The government has taken our political parties and destroyed them. Because they are so greedy with money AND with power they are destroying what our past politicians have created. And "WE the people" have been fed so many lies we don't know what to think. We "think" we know what to think. But, honestly we don't. I don't and no one on this board does. We all have speculations and oppinions and theories...we speak as though they are facts and thats ridiculous. Which is why these protestors are ridiculous because they have no idea what they are protesting. They spend all their time researching and researching....researching what? THE MEDIA. Reseaching what the government and the media are feeding....they are researching OPPINIONS and THEORIES and SPECULATIONS.And using them as fact. And what facts they do come up with are easily manipulated to coincide with their own beliefs. ...our country needs a face lift. Our democracy is tainted. We need fresh new faces with open hearts and clean hands. Question is...Does that type of person even exhist anymore? We are all about me,me,me. How can "I" get ahead. How can "I" buy a bigger and better house....maybe we are not ALL like that...I'm not at least...but those who are, are making up the rules. And we all just follow suit like sheep. I'm a sheep....When they raise gas prices...don't we still buy gas? When they raise real estate prices...Do we not still buy? Why are we not protesting those things???? ISn't this government supposed to be "For the people, By the people"? So, I suppose you question is still correct...what IS wrong with us? We fight for the wrong things!

Republicans look like fools because they adopted foolish policies. While it might be convenient for Republicans to criticize "Liberals" for their alarm over the inept handling of the military operations overseas, it seems even more dangerous to close your eyes to a failed policy leading America down the path of disenfranchizement from the rest of the world. Our troops are being killed because Bush is not properly conducting the war, not because the Democrats are calling him to task about it. Buddy, in 500BC we knew that the type of war we fight in Iraq is hopeless. Sun Tzu said in the "Art of War":
(quote) " When you engage in actual fighting, if victory is long in coming, then men's weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be damped. If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength.
Again, if the campaign is protracted, the resources of the State will not be equal to the strain.
Now, when your weapons are dulled, your ardor damped, your strength exhausted and your treasure spent, other chieftains will spring up to take advantage of your extremity. Then no man, however wise, will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.
Thus, though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.
[There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare."
How can you blame Democrats for what is happening now? You seem like an intelligent person; are you so blinded by partisan politics that you have misplaced your patriotism? Trying to avoid the needless slaughter of heroes is not unpatriotic. A change is necessary, because even the most convicted Republicans agree we are losing the "stay the course" strategy. There are other, better ways of prosecuting this war and obtaining operational success. Would you have us abandon critical strategic and tactical military stretegy just to save political face?
Do you really think that we can ever prevent terrorist attacks at home? The only way that could happen is if we completely gave up all of our freedoms, and that is the exact goal of the terrorists. Would you like that?

Cynical.. I'm with you. Enough is enough.
Mike...
There are a multitude of us that believe as you do. Somewhere along the line the priorities changed from standing together as citizens to protecting the rights of those that want to destroy our citizens.
Every law that has been passed in the past 5 years has been directly formed to root out terrorism inside our borders and make it easier to expose terroism outside our borders. This isn't good enough. It is believed that anyone anywhere should enjoy the same rights that you and I have as Americans. I'm sorry but that isn't how it works. If you are not an American and you are willfully and purposely trying to bring harm to our country you do not deserve the same rights I and other Americans have.
Rico... why don't you pass your philosophy onto the people killing innocent civilians and threatening the world with the "religion of peace"..
amitabh0124... Saddam was best for who? Would the hundreds of thousands of people that have been pulled from mass graves due to Saddam agree with you?
Reston... It is not true that Bush got rid of Habeas Corpus. You are perverting the truth. Congress suspended Habeas Corpus in regards to NON-Americans. If you are a citizen of the United States Habeas Corpus is alive and well. You are a liar. By the way Reston, Why are you here? Since when is it that you get to tell people where they should or should not be based on their beliefs? You would fit right in with some Communistic country somewhere.
And Tom... not everyone... not even every country disagrees with the United States position. And furthermore there is a silent majority in the United States that fully agree with what Mike, Kate and RockandRod and I have to say.
NoDuh... Duh!! What good is your precious freedoms going to be if there isn't a country to enjoy them in? None of us want to give up our freedoms. None of us. What is happening is bigger than "the oh poor me, I may have to compromise abit to get our country through this" crap we are hearing all over the place. There is NOT ONE Freedom that anyone has lost. You are going to be scrutinized alittle more? So what! We all are! Get over it. Are you concerned about the freedom to being able to hold a conversation privately between you and a suspected terrorist?
TeacherWitch... We all have someone we know and care about serving or has already served in Iraq. You are not alone in your concerns. But what you are is blind if you believe this is about oil or Halliburton. Nowhere at any time did President Bush link Saddam to 9/11/ That is a lie. He never did that. WMD? Saddam didn't have any? Or did Saddam have 4 months from the time he was *warned* that we were coming after him to dispose of those weapons or send them off to his pals in Syria? The writing was on the wall what was going to happen 4 months before it did. You are emboldening the enemy by the way you are talking. I am sure your loved ones over in Iraq are just loving that.
I am really sick and tired of you folks who are willing to watch our country implode because of your idealistic beliefs and those who repeatedly pass on false information. I call people like you "user friendly" to the terrorists.

Interesting as usual. First, rico the ostrich buries her head in the sand, waiting for the perfect world with no war -- hey, sweetie, the 60's are over; put the hookah down and clean the kitchen. Then, we have reston, the ventriloquist's dummy, referencing that scion of higher thinking, Keith Olbermann, to substantiate his points. Take note, intellectuals!
The fact of the matter is, we are involved in a war -- a cultural war -- between the modern world on the one hand and an abominated interpretation of a 10th century nomadic world on the other. Unfortunately, the latter is supported by mindless minions whose idea of battle is to blow up unsuspecting, innocent civilians -- men, women and children -- as directed by shaggy old men whose hatred for all things Western can be seen in the expression on their faces and the look in their eyes.
This battle will not end until we have killed every one of them, their families, their dogs and camels, poisoned their rivers and salted their ground. Wake up, Western world -- your very survival is at stake. And please, don't give Bush too much credit here: the war he is directing is as politically correct and minimal as it can possibly be -- let our military take off the gloves, George, and win this thing!

9/11 had nothing to do with it. Our young people are over there dying for nothing more than oil. 9/11 was the best thing that could have happened to this vile regime we have in Washington now - it provided the perfect excuse to use military assets to seize oil-rich regions. Iraq was not involved in 9/11 any more than there were any weapons of mass destruction. I suppose you believe that fantasy too. Saddam and Osama HATED each other - there was never any connection. Our troops, another whole generation of young people, wouldn't be getting killed for nothing over there if the warmongering fools that sent them would let them come home.
And don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I have both relatives and friends serving in Irag right now and hold my breath every time the phone rings. They're going to spend yet another Christmas in that godforsaken sandpit, away from their families and in mortal danger every day for no reason whatsoever except the greed for oil. I don't give a tin s**t for geopolitics, oil, one-upsmanship in the Middle East, or any other of that crap. I care about people and families, about mothers and young wives losing their loved ones and children losing their fathers and mothers, and for what? A bunch of people who couldn't care less if Americans live or die? Why are our soldiers being made to do that?
And does how many we lost in other wars mean we're supposed to let that many be slaughtered again? Should we make sure 10 times as many are killed this time around too? Should we make sure that 10 times as many families are devestated? What is wrong with you? Obviously you think of our soldiers as cannon fodder and nothing else. Don't compare this stupid farce to something like WW2, which was the last righteous war. We fought that war to save the world from Hitler and the Nazis, one of the greatest evils this world has ever seen. We're fighting this one to make money for Halliburton. What's wrong with this picture?
You need to seriously re-examine your priorities and your information. You're brainwashed by neo-con BS. I want my loved ones home alive.
And don't email me with a snotty reply. I already know what your opinion is.
