For instance, the soldier is 19 and his girlfriend back home is 17. Is this allowed? I've heard that as long as the parents are aware and aprove and the girl is at least 16 then it's allowed, how close am I? lol

The soldier is all over the place, he gets relocated often. How about Virginia or Georgia?

The BOYFRIEND needs to be concerned with both state law and the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Both the state law and the UCMJ will apply to the boyfriend. However, in the situation you defined, if there is no sexual contact, then there is no concern.
If you are asking about sexual contact, read below.
Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the boyfriend is safe. The age of consent under the UCMJ is 16. (10 USC 920)
In Virginia if a person is over the age of 18 and he/she engages in sex with someone who is 15, 16, or 17 then they can be charged with Causing an Act to Render a Child Delinquent; a Class 1 misdemeanor. Under Virginia Law a Class 1 misdemeanor is punishable with confinement in jail for not more than twelve months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both.
In Georgia, the boyfriend is safe. The age of consent under the Georgia Criminal Code is 16.
A previous respondent also made a great point, you might not want to take the word of anonymous individuals on the Internet. I have included links to the Criminal Statutes for both Virginia and Georgia. I have also included a link to the portion of the US Code that contains the UCMJ.

I don't think there are any specific military laws, but I would think that they would follow the statutory rape laws for whatever state he is stationed in. I've never heard of the military doing anything about it (it's really not that uncommon, esp for the younger guys just out of high school), but I'm sure if he were prosecuted for statutory rape in the local government that the military would also impose punishment on him.

According to the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) it's 18 and up. But I have never seen anyone try to crack down on high school sweet harts unless some other crime was involved.

I stand Corrected 16 and up.
I am not dating in that age range anymore.
Also the State law still applies on a Base in that State.

I guess as long as you have your parents OK you are pretty safe. If you are under age without approval it could spell trouble for your boyfriend's career if anyone reports it to the military. I think it is according to the laws in your state.

There really is a reason why the UCMJ is available for everyone to read.
It also is never a good idea to just take someones word for what is in the UCMJ. They may be relying on their memory, look it up and then you know.

I think that age restrictions are no good for anyone but when you are in the military....you have to have some discipline but not in this case no restriction should be put.....!!!!
