why is it not a road traffic offence to use satnav or tom tom while driving. it must be more dangerous to watch a small screen while driving than using a mobile phone.
if it's ok to watch a small screan while driving why don't we install DVD players on the dashboard I for one find driving boring and would be glad of something to watch while driving

I was thinking about putting my website url hanging from a bridge overpass, it wouldn't cover the freeway sign since there isn't one and it wouldn't come anywhere near cars, even big rigs? Could this be breaking the law? If so, what law?

Hey, I got into an accident by going the wrong way on a one way street. The cop reported it as a "RAN RED LIGHT/INTERSECTION - A" seeing as I could not see the light (as I was going the wrong way), can I get the ticket removed on the basis that the cop did not report the incident correctly?

thanks.

if you get pulled over with passengers and the officer has probably cause to search the VEHICLE (for example he smells marijuana), does that probable cause also apply to searching your person? i.e. your pockets? what about passengers?

This is in Pennsylvania. I was caught by vascar going 51 mph in what I was told a 35 mph zone. After driving back through a day later, I noticed the posted speed along the straight away was 40 mph. The next sign said "END 40 mph". The next sign said "35 mph AHEAD" and the next said "35 mph" right before a residential area started. All were about a few hundred yards apart. The sign going the opposite direction read 40 mph the whole way through after the residential area. The vascar zone I was caught in was between the "40 END" and the "35 mph AHEAD" signs, but I was cited for going 16 over in a 35 mph zone. I'm not trying to get out of this completely, but theres a big difference in fines and points on my license if I was going 11 mph over or 16 mph over.

Safe in solitary confinement for 23 days, sure. Well thats what Paris gets, a drunk driver getting paid 1 million by NBC. I am not going to watch their interview or any of their shows from now on. What are your thoughts?

I went to career cruising dot com, and found that Parole Officers are the top choice for me and they sound very very much like my ideal job. Though it says i should learn French. I don't like French and I want to know if not taking French will impact me on being a Parole Officer.

CARE AND HELP

Officer pulled me over for an illegal U-turn.

My attitude was not too friendly, bad day for me. He asked me for my license. He looked at my license, asked a couple of questions, long silence, then went back to his car to write the ticket. I was silent throughout, not making much eye contact either, and not flirting/asking for forgiveness as I normally do (maybe a little rude?).

After I signed the ticket, I finally made eye contact and asked him how much the fine was, guess that made me more approachable because weirdest thing, He kept staring at me, then asked me questions and making comments (how long I've had it, how my car and me are the same age, how to go online for traffic school) and complimenting me (such a very good driving record, etc), like starting a conversation, maybe even hitting on me?

I wanted to call him at the police station to void the ticket. Will that work? Or should I go to the court date and pray he doesn't show up for something so trivial

I believe that cops only see things one way Good Guy (the officers they work with) -Bad guy(everyone else) & I believe they treat everyone else badly.
I have seen cops that have prejudice & stereotypes. For instance I heard one cop say he would "pull over anyone with a raiders sticker on their car & chances are he is on parole" What do you think about cops in general?

I always shake my head everytime I think of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Who was the genius that originally put this outfit together? I mean Alcohol and Firearms??? What a ridiculous combo.

Well, it's just recently, however, that some dolt in D.C. realizes that the tobacco unit of the ATF was the odd man out, so they decided to included.... *gasp*.... EXPLOSIVES????

So, now we have the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. As scared as I was thinking about Uncle Sam grouping Alcohol/Firearms together, I'm really frightened at the prospect of Cigarettes/Explosives!!!

Check it out for yourself at http://www.atf.gov

I live in Ohio, and there is a law that if youre 16,
youre not allowed to have more than one other person
in the car with you while driving.

My boyfriend, my friend, Sarah, her boyfriend, Tom, and I
are going on a roadtrip sometime soon,
and we're gonna be taking the Ohio turnpike.

Do you think the people at the Ohio turnpike
will ask to see my license or something (since I'm only 16)
and then call the cops and bust us?
