You need to make sure first that the original design does not have a copyright on it. They may have retained the right to keep the design and have registered it and not allow it to be reproduced. It would be easy to ask the football club, I am sure they will tell you yes or no. It's pretty much like reprinting a book that is out of date you have to make sure of the copyright before you reprint it.

No, it's not illegal. Many clubs sell their "old" shirts in their Club Shops for nostalgia value.

A logo is copyrighted material, and must be renewed every so often. Chances are that your FC's logo isn't covered anymore. Put it on your shirt and let them try to fight it.
