I was watching AMW(America's Most Wanted) and there was this guy who murdered his wife and now there is reward money if you turn him in. i was wondering if he turned himself in would he get the reward money to give to his kids or something

No you won't. You can't legally profit from your crimes. The same goes for your biography or movie. You can't profit.

Sure why not, then he could immediately forfeit that money to the prison he will be held in, so my taxes dont have to go towards feeding the guy.

By law, a criminal may not profit from his crime. So if he turns himself in he doesn't get the money.

since he is the one who committed the crime he has forfietted the reward unless he makes a deal with the state.
