If you have a surveillance camera that has a microphone hooked up in your own home for not only surveillance but as a webcam (meaning it can be accessed through the internet if you have all the passwords etc.). Is there anything illegal about that since it is recording non-stop? We have it in our basement/den because we usually keep our garages open in the summer and a flimsy door won't stop someone from breaking in but it also records everything else that occurs in our basement/ den area including the going abouts of the family and any guests who come over. Is there anything illegal about that? I am pretty sure there is not since it is our own home but this is to settle a bet with a friend. Thanks!

My cousin is 20. He, his girlfriend and a few of his friends ask me to buy them alcohol from time to time. (I'm 24) I have done it in the past when I know they are spending the night and it's only one or two of them, but I don't feel right buying it for a big group of them at someone else's house. They're all pretty responsible and level headed, but I still worry about getting in trouble or causing them to get in trouble. It sucks because I feel like I can't even hang out with them because of the legal issues, even if I'm not the one actually buying the alcohol. So my question is, what is the penalty if they get caught drinking? Would I still be responsible even though they're over 18? Is the fact that I'm over 21 going to get me in trouble just for hanging out with them even if I'm not the one that provides the alcohol?

Fifty-four-year-old Robert Wheeland was bound over for trial yesterday after four teenage girls testified during a preliminary hearing before a Muskogee County judge. Much of the testimony was held in the judge’s chamber because of the girls’ ages.

Wheeland is facing three counts each of lewd molestation and second-degree rape and one count each of rape by instrumentation and taking indecent photographs of a minor.

A 16-year-veteran of the Haskell Police Department, Wheeland is accused of using his position as a police officer to seduce his alleged victims.

A former Lawton police officer is guilty of stealing money from Lawton Public Schools. That’s the verdict a Comanche County jury reached Wednesday afternoon during the third day of Paul Stoner’s trial.

He’s the first person charged in the LPS security scandal to actually go to trial for turning in false time sheets and getting paid for hours he never worked. But there’s another twist in this case. The prosecutor tells 7NEWS he believes Stoner paved the way for a future, larger scandal. That scandal involved former deputy superintendent Will Anderson, director of security Mark McFarland, and several more former Lawton police officers, as well as Comanche County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The nine-woman and three-man jury only deliberated for 35 minutes before convicting Paul Stoner on two counts of filing false claims against the state. They also recommended the maximum sentence of two years in prison on each count.

MIAMI -- A Miami police officer was arrested Wednesday evening accused of killing his K-9 partner.

Sgt. Allen Cockfield, a 27-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department, was arrested and charged with one count of an offense against a police dog and one count of cruelty to animals.

Detectives said during a training exercise in June of 2006, Cockfield kicked his German shepherd, Duke, numerous times until it died. ( Don't tell me they are only human)
Cockfield had been relieved of duty since the onset of the investigation.

After the case was reviewed by the State Attorney's Office, an arrest warrant was issued.

Cockfield surrendered Wednesday afternoon to investigators at the Turner-Gilford Knight Correctional Center where he was booked

Wondering about what people think of what happened in florida about inmates being forced to lick toilets and eat their food from the floor.

I think it's great that it's being investigated and a bit surprised. It's too easy for guards to get away with this type of thing when people who think that people in jail should be treated like animals.

When I've been in jail I've seen some guards having a go but not like this. Hope the inmates get some sort of compensation for this as it is just abuse.

police officer who accidentally shot and killed a colleague in the police station has been awarded a pension and medical coverage for life.

Experts said that former Easton Police Officer Matthew Renninger is psychologically disabled from the shooting.

The $900-a-month award comes after a six-to-one vote Friday of the police pension board, whose members include four police officers. The 38-year-old Renninger has not returned to work since the shooting two years ago, which killed 36-year-old Jesse Sollman, a fellow SWAT team member.

Mayor Phil Mitman, who cast the dissenting vote, said Renninger failed to follow protocol and does not deserve the lifetime award.

The victim's widow has filed a $20 million lawsuit against both Renninger and the city.

This individual is threatening me and my family, saying that we're all going to die or pay for what we did. He could say anything, and the problem is that we don't trust him at all. If we file a restraining order against him, everything might get worse. I want to go to the police department and let them know about this whole situation,, but I don't even know if they will be able to help. I don't know what I should do, I am very scared..

With the prisons overcrowding do you think that criminals should be given the option of joining the forces instead of going to prison?
A person who could be sent to prison for 5 years could be given the option of 2 years in the army. With pay and discipline they may come out more responsible, and there is always the option for them to sign on for longer.
I know it's putting the onus on the forces but I'm sure they have dealt with worse over the years.
I wouldn't extend this to serious crime like murder or paedos etc
What do you think?

Let me clear it up for you. Again you just read into it what you want. It's all there in black and white. If a 100 stories about bad cops are put out there so what, post ones you agree with, don't expect me to be your parent, don't except me to spend hours trying to help you get something as simple as my answer adjusted into your head, to oh that's what it means.
