A former Lawton police officer is guilty of stealing money from Lawton Public Schools. That’s the verdict a Comanche County jury reached Wednesday afternoon during the third day of Paul Stoner’s trial.

He’s the first person charged in the LPS security scandal to actually go to trial for turning in false time sheets and getting paid for hours he never worked. But there’s another twist in this case. The prosecutor tells 7NEWS he believes Stoner paved the way for a future, larger scandal. That scandal involved former deputy superintendent Will Anderson, director of security Mark McFarland, and several more former Lawton police officers, as well as Comanche County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The nine-woman and three-man jury only deliberated for 35 minutes before convicting Paul Stoner on two counts of filing false claims against the state. They also recommended the maximum sentence of two years in prison on each count.

Wow, I use to live there and knew most of these people. You would think the age they are getting to be, which is close to retirement, would have more sense that doing something like this.

Oh wow, man!! Deja Vu!! You are NOT going to believe this... but I DID see this... like, less than 5 seconds ago...

Oops... no. The other one was slightly different. So, no, I didn't see this one, either.

I mean, you know, until a few seconds ago.

Don't you have anything else to do other than research police misconduct? There are bad seeds in every occupation, but most people don't make it an obsession. You are probably a very nice person in real life, but for your own sake get some counselling!

Clearly you've got a major beef with cops.
Looks like you collect stories about bad ones.
They, generally, do a very good job for little money and less respect. They certainly do a tough job that many people couldn't, or wouldn't, do.
