This is not underage drinking. The law only applies to human beings and not animals. As to the legality issue, the owner of the dog could file charges of damage to his personal goods and it could be considered cruelty to animals. Of course, if it was a very hot day and the dog was panting due to the heat, a jury would logically decide that the neighbor was doing the animal a favor. Were I the owner of the dog, I would not care since I have given my dog beer many times.

I've heard of puppies particularly drawn to beer, or the sound of the containers opening. It can be feasible, under these situations, however do not forget, an alcoholic is just one if they let alcohol run their existence. I doubt the dog will do this. You are the one who has to feed the addiction. But, for those who come to a decision to continue giving your dog alcoholic beverages, remember their weight. Whereas you might be a a hundred thirty lb male who can take three-four cans of beer earlier than getting tipsy/inebriated, a dog is in most cases 60 lbs, and is certainly now not suited for drinking alcohol. Humans have a little bit extra... Durability... Within the animal kingdom in relation to alcohol, in my experience. In my individual opinion, it's not a good notion to offer your dog resources that alter their perceptions (except directed by way of a veterinarian) considering that humans tend to suppose puppies as extra hardier than themselves. Thing is, their much less weight implies that they endure the consequences so much rapid, and men and women don't necessarily be aware of when to discontinue. To not mention they're exclusive animals, however some humans do not understand that. The dog can not let you know when their executed, both. You preserve going and come to be hurting them for the reason that you didn't know.

Underage drinking, I don't think, applies to animals. However, giving beer to a dog is bad for that dog and is considered animal abuse. Those neighbors of yours probably wanted a good laugh to see the dog's reaction, and that dog shouldn't be with those owners. You should report them to the police or animal shelter.

I would not consider it underage drinking although that is a funny thought. I would think some type of animal cruelty charge would be in order. I can see where the burden of proof would be too much to overcome with that case in court though.

Call animal control and report them. If they only did it once, Im sure it did not harm the dog. Maybe you should print out some information from the internet that tells them the dangers of giving alcohol to dog and slip it in their mailbox (so they dont know its you lol) but anyways .. I would call and report them if you see it occuring again ..

Yes, in dog years, that's only 14. They should wait another year, and don't let him drive.
