If you were caught by an FIP (fixed speed installation), that is the familiar yellow box permanently at the side of the road your chances of getting off are virtually zero and you are best advised to offer to pay the fixed penalty. You may then be given the option of taking a "Speed Awareness Course" as an alternative to getting points on your licence. Hundreds attend such courses every week. This will cost you a bit more financially than the £60 fine, BUT you will not get any points on your licence if you complete the course. There is no exam at the end of it so you can not "fail" it that way, but you will probably need to take a day off work to attend at required time.
If you were not caught by a FIP but by a mobile speed camera (i.e. one where somebody stands at the side of the road and points a gun at you) you then stand a good chance of getting off if it goes to Court provided you stick to your guns and catagorically insist you were not doing the speed alleged, and particularly if you have witnesses or other evidence to support you. One Solicitor in Hampshire has got very rich indeed by representing people caught by these gun cameras in Court, and he has a 95% success rate in proving the prosecution evidence flawed by getting his client acquitted by the magistrates.
But taking them to Court may end up costing you a lot more financially than the fine, even if you end up winning, but you will end up with no points on your licence.

I know it is bloody annoying, A copper on patrol would proberly give you a dressing down and send yoy on your way.
These cameras are just another way of making money for the authorities.
I think you can make an appeal but it could cost you more in the end.
Cough up and look happy, I have heard that these points are now so common that Insuance companies are begining to ignore them when they set the premium
HOpe yopu have not got enough to get diqualified

A lot of men will chicken out as soon as they are caught staring and then the woman sees the guy's head snap back as if he were caught doing something. A smart guy will not look away like a criminal, but smile and try to say something. This guy was not as shy as many others but, ultimately, he turned away when he should have approached to have a word with you.

sorry mate not a chance, they will fine you and endorse your licence. I looked into it when i managed to collect 6 points, even wrote the chief inspector, all to know avail, speed camera's (or safety as they like to call them) are taking over the country, its got nothing to do with safety, but all about taxing the motorist. You will just have to swallow it.

I would suggest pay the fine and then don't speed. What would you rather want? To be a few minutes late going somewhere or to have a fine and/or have to face jail time because you've killed someone? Or more importantly...could you live with the fact that you killed someone because you just HAD to get somewhere?

The only way to get away with it is to be a police officer.
Of 90'000 cops caught by speed cameras (on or off duty) only 350 have ever had to pay the fine and take the points.
The rest of us, unfortunately, just have to take it in the a*se.

Nah- got to pay old chap. You can get a spray for your licence plates though. I'll get back to you with a link.
My mate is a white van man (literally yes!), and he's a nutter and he never gets any fines with this spray. Not that I advocate unsafe driving ;).
I have a good mate in Aussie who has a limo business- I post him it sometimes, and he gets his supply from another guy here too. Not a brass razoo in fines- and he has to speed to make private plane landings.
Fight the system!
Be back soon!

I am afraid there is no getting away with it. You were caught speeding. Pay up and learn a lesson from it. Just think of the consequences and thank your lucky stars you didn't kill or injure anyone.

Its bad enough speeding in a car, but in a lorry its a lethal machine. Pay the ticket and be done with it, if you go to court they will throw the book at you.

You can go on a course I think and pay the fine, without getting points on your licence. Depends what they have given you.
