Law Enforcement & Police - January 2007

Over the weekend, my friend turned 24 and I had a party for him at my place. He brought a friend with him and the friend looked 22-23. I also had a coworker who was only 20 there. He was in the Army and is leaving for Iraq in a couple of weeks. The cops drove by late at night and my friends had the door open and I was in the back of the house and did not know it. I came into the living room and even though I have a screen door closed but with see through windows, the cops just came walking in without knocking on it. They arrested the kid who I thought was 22 was only 20, 1 month until he was 21. They talked to my Army friend , but did not give him an underage drinking fine. 1. Is it legal in PA, for the cops to walk in the house without knocking, even though the screen door was closed but not locked. 2. If my Army friend does not get a fine, (the cops said he would not get anything that night), can they still charge me with him drinking underage anyhow, I got 2 counts in the mail today

I got a parking ticket back in November in Walnut Creek California. I put 2 quarters into the meter for an hour's time, and when I came back at 5 to the hour, I had a ticket that had been written 2 minutes earlier.
I immediately filed an appeal at the police department, but I just today recieved a statement in which the reviewer upheld the citation.
I still have the option to fight this by either personal appearance, or another written request. Is it worth it? Should I appear, or send in more paperwork? What can I do or say to prove my innocence in the matter?
It's only a $25 ticket, but it's more about the principle of the matter. I'm really upset that the city can get away with ***-raping law abiding citizens by pilfering their hard earned dollars,( no matter how little), and getting away with it so dismissively.(after a month of waiting to hear back, I called and they told me they would address my citation quote "when we get around to it"
Please help. Thanks

This is just because I'm curious if others have dealt with this. A co-worker of mine was arrested last week at a sobriety checkpoint for DUI. They smelled beer on him, they pulled him out and put him through the show. But here's the thing... he had two beers only. I know, because I was there with him when he consumed them before he left the bar. It was a Friday, post work, happy hour thing, he could not have been there more than 30 minutes. When I asked him about the field check (walking the straight line, touching your nose, etc.) he says there was no problem. The problem came when he blew a .03 on the breathalyzer. My first response was, well why were you arrested? You were well under the legal limit, why were you arrested? That's what he said too. He still looked stunned. He was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence. Not INTOXICATED, but under the influence of alcohol.

Does this sound right to you? Can they really do that?

I have never seen anything so stupid in my life as the US policy of evacuating large buildings when there is a disease or poison scare? WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY THINKING? If there is 700 people in a tall building and small pox or something is released upon them, they do what? EVACUATE!!! Everyone out, INFECT YOUR NEIGHBORS FAST! SPREAD IT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!!! You see it time and time again, even in drills, the run everyone out into the population!! Have they no brains? Why isnt the disaster plan to CONTAIN such things?

my daughter was arrested for failure to appear in court although she really didnt have to be in court that day cause her lawyer had postponed it to another day. the lawyer claims the clerk of court made a mistake. i paid $300 to a bondsman to get her out of jail. Can I make the court system reimburse me that money if the lawyer provides me with the paperwork he submitted to them proving she didnt have court on the date they stated she didnt appear?

I got pulled over by a cop with a junior license comming home from work tonight. He gave me a warning and did not ticket me. I am 16 and will be turning 17 in 2 months. In New York, you are elegable for a senior license at 17 if you have taken driver's ed. I am eligeable to get my senior license because I have taken driver's ed.

My question is am I still able to get my senior license? I didn't get a ticket so I think I am.

Just wondering.

A guy got my phone number off my car (I advertise as a massage therapist) and asked if I wanted a "business opportunity." Long story short, after needing to look at his web page to make sure it's a scam (because I didn't want to drive 30 minutes to a presentation), I turned him down when he called back. Less than a minute later I get a text message saying, "Miss cricket phone and worry about gas queen, keep in mind that POOR stands for Passing Over Opportunities Repeatedly. I'll keep earning 200 a day or more-lol."
First off, how fu
