In California, it's not a ticket. If there are no injuries, it's just a misdeamenor and you can get up to 6 months in jail. If there were injuries, it's a felony and you can get up to 3 years in prison. It is considered very serious. In California, misdeamenors carry fines of up to $1000 (and there may be other costs as well). Felonies generally carry up to $10,000 fines.

While I don't know Michigan law, I suspect that it's not just a ticket there either.

Oy, it looks like $2,000.00. It's in red under "Failed to Stop or Identify After P.D. Accident", see if I read it right http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:2C_n4Tr4mUgJ:www.michigandefenselaw.com/traffic-law-faqs.html+michigan+fleeing+scene+accident+cost&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=3&client=firefox-a

I wouldn't worry about the fine as much as if whether or not you get jail time out of it. You could.
