I bounced a check in June 2005 and didn't find out about it until September 2006, I know I know I should have known but somehow I missed it. Anyway, I had a court date in October to take care of it but they asked that I come back in November. The date in November came around and we were out of state at my father-in-law's funeral and the date slipped my mind. Now there is a warrent out for my arrest or missing the court date. Is there anyway to get rid of it due to extenuating circumstances?

As a single woman living alone, I got to thinking that I should have some type of weapon or form of protection around the house just in case something should happen--but here is the thing, I am against guns in a home.

What do you suggest as a weapon/form of protection that is NOT a gun?

If the guns work on detecting the speed of a reflected signal (radio, sound, light otherwise) wouldn't the reflected signal be accelerated already by the speed of the police cruiser, and then reflect inaccurately back at the gun?

I was pulled over and the state trooper had his hat on and the chin strap under the lip instead of under his chin. I have no idea why this is part of the uniform. It looks strange and it must be an annoyance when trying to talk.

I read a book about cops in New York and it said they could just go up to a woman on his beat and go home with her and do the nasty and then go back on patrol - like every day.

I understand the uniform thing, but this seems far fetched. Does anyone know from a real cop?

Someone ran into my parked truck. The police officer didn't make a report. He said if there wasn't more than $1000 damage no report would be filed. The driver didn't have insurance. She first agreed to pay for damages but she said since she got a ticket she wasn't paying for damages. We contacted the police he just told us we would have to take her to small claims court. BUT without a report is that possible? Was the officer suppose to make one anyway

I have a court appearance for a CA 22348b ticket (over 100mph). I plan to use an attorney and want to know is it better to use one that is local to that court or to retain one that is from out-of-town. I live 2 hrs away from the county where this was cited. Thanks.

Does anyone know if in the state of Illinois if you get just a warning do you still have to pay a fine? I got pulled over and I know the officer said "sign here to verify that this is just a warning not a ticket" But I still have to pay so maybe he mixed his words up... I'm not sure. Does this sound right to anyone?

OK, I snore - badly!! Well, my neighbor just had her boyfriend move in and he is a WALL BANGER. Not knocking, but to the point of moving the pictures on the walls. I have called the Apt complex and they did nothing. I have even gone to the extent of sleeping downstairs to help them -- we have paper thin walls -- I can hear everything, conversations, etc (if you get my drift). Every weekend I have 3 of my grandkids stay with me (4yr - 6yr). Now, for my specific questions... I am planning to get earplugs for MYSELF so that his constant banging does not bother me --- they are too dumb & lazy to do anything for themselves! I don't believe they can call the police on me for noise, but if this continues while the kids are there and it scares them, can I press chgs against them? I am up for any and all legal recourses -- I am fearful of retaliation, think this guy is a few cans short of a 6-pk. I don't want the kids or my dog hurt! Surgery for me is not an option right now.
