I read a book about cops in New York and it said they could just go up to a woman on his beat and go home with her and do the nasty and then go back on patrol - like every day.

I understand the uniform thing, but this seems far fetched. Does anyone know from a real cop?

Cops in New York by and large are great people, but man do they have some doozies. There are some crooked or bad cops who do pretty much anything you can imagine on duty.
The uniform does seem to attract some people who like the power it may project.
The thing is a lot of the "cop groupies" are dingalings, I mean seriously strange people. They are drawn for who knows what reason to cops and they are really out there, I mean out there!
People who do bad things on duty, tend to get caught sooner or later so it's not the smartest ones in the first place taking the risk.
When I started on the job, this older cop told me that there are 3 Bs that get cops fired, BABES, BOOZE and BULLETS.

The notion is a bit far fetched. I was a peace officer for 24 years in California. Although the uniform does attract certain females in society who are attracted to the uniform, I have NEVER observed or heard of a cop doing as you describe. Of course there are those officers who have stepped outside the bounds of the law and are for the most part caught and sent to jail. Hope that helps you.

Because the pay isn't stellar and the work is dangerous, there are only two reasons why a cop stays on the job 20-30 years, long after the idealism of protecting the public is replaced by cynicism. They are: a need for control and power.

But that's just one opinion from a civilian with a huge grudge. Hate is a very powerful emotion.

Check out all of my answers under law enforcement & police. It's impressive... and perhaps a little pathetic...

That does not work. We get some pretty good looks sometimes, I guess from the uniform thing, but never offered the chance. Nor do we take the first step in the matter. Most people that we see on a regular basis, we do not want to be doing that with. I have heard of random stories, but nothing to make it a regular practice.

i was a police officer in the South for several years. while there do exist 'police groupies' who especially dig police, most self-respecting officers leave them alone.

remember, cops are just people, too...good and bad, in equal measure, to any other segment in society. most of the guys i worked with were family guys, and didn't fool around-much.

about the worst thing i ever remember doing was having a couple of beers too many once in a while...then we'd call somebody to take us home so we wouldn't pull a DUI.

When my friend got pulled over the officer showed him the clocker. I don't see the point though, he could have clocked somebody on the highway and then say you were going 65 on a residential street. I wonder if the clockers make a time stamp.

All true. I heard Deputy Dawg and magic johnson were neck and neck in the "bang as many as you can" contest held in 1989.
