What does the law say, can the Masjid authorities raise the volume at their wish or is there an upper limit and which authority needs to monitor it. Incase there is a solution, whom should i write to. A correspondence has already been sent the nearest police station but all in vain.

I would really appreciate some advice from a few experienced drivers on how they judge the true speed limit on UK roads, so that I don't find out the hard way.

I am 22 and have only had my license for 2 months - passed first time with just a couple of minors. I'm good at reading hazards before they arise and i'm very considerate of other road users.

I prefer to drive fast when it's safe, but how far can I bend the rules before I break them? In a 30 zone, people are doing 35-40, in a 40 zone they are doing 45-55... how do you know when you are going too fast? is getting caught speeding just pot luck?

Also, when there are no cars at all on a motorway, how fast can I go? Usually when it's empty i break 100 until i see the next car in the distance then slow down to an appropriate speed when overtaking. What are the odds of getting caught doing this? Perhaps a tad philosophical, but if i'm driving safely with no other cars for miles, should it matter one iota if i'm doing 60 or 120?

As an ex con, I can speak from experience. Prison is far to soft and so therefore not a deterent. Cells have Curtains, Carpets, TV with Sky, Playstation, Kettle. Access to Microwave & Grill during assocciation time. Prisoners can wear their own clothing. Can spend £30 per week on shopping. I say prison should be a room, with a bed, a table and chair, and thats your lot. No TV, No Radio, No Shopping, Nothing but 23 hours a day bang up. 1 hours excersize, so long as the weather is good. The food should be basic, all priviedges withdrawn and lets get it back to basics. If its made a long horrible drawn out affair, then it becomes a deterent, a place people don't want to go to. Our Prison system needs a total overall, as they are all rife with drugs, bent officers & large amounts of violence that gets brushed under the carpet, so as not to affect that prisons statistics for the end of year report. What do you think our prisons should be like?

My friend got pulled over and got a DUI, during the DUI investigation I(passenger) was asked to leave the car and go home (I walked to a friends nearby). A couple weeks later I received a leter in the mail stating I was charged with Possesion of Drug paraphanelia and Possesion of less than a half ounce of Marijuana. The details behind this are that after i left and he was arrested they found a pipe with some marijuana in a jacket in the back seat. They asked the driver about it and he said it was the passengers(mine) and proceeded to identify me. This is in North Dakota.

My question is how can this even occur? How could they not charge him and charge me with it. I mean it's extreme but if I got pulled over with a kilo of cocaine could I just say it was someone elses and be on my way? I am at a loss and unsure what to do. They sent me a plea offer of 1 year suspended and register with RESTORE(drug treatment) but I am hesitant to accept and this seems un-American and unfair.

It has been said that the police are people sworn to up hold the law as their primary duty .
It is also incumbent upon each person to report crime and assist the police in the apprehension of criminals .
When the police become the adversary of 10% of the population then something is wrong with our system of laws .
I only need the police to enforce the law and not become the defenders of my freedoms .
All to often the police are arresting people who are breaking moral laws and are not criminals except that the law has made them such .
A women on a bus does not need to present Identification at the request of any officer or while walking jogging or other wise engaged in any lawful activity .
To often the police these days are beating harrasing and arresting law abiding people for simple traffic offenses and for refusing to submit to searches and requests for Identification when demanded by police .
Have we become a police state by allowing the police to act like the military .
