Oh-boy what a barrel of political snakes that is. We have a State/Federal government system that is failing by leaps and bounds (Katrina anyone?) They have proved their ineffectiveness in so many issues of “public service” that the best the limpwrist legislators can do is to continue to INCREASE TAXES and make more laws to band-aid the previous failures. In 1950 we had about 10,000 federal laws. As the need for more government control escalated and in the name of a better life for U.S. citizens, by 2004 there were over 150,000 laws (within the USC and CFR alone). The states have followed suit, increasing laws on the books by a factor of 10, but in the final analysis, the laws can ALL be reduced down to one common denominator: Making it easier for the government to control the people. VERY few of theses laws have increased independence, choice, or free will of the individual.
The evolution of police forces under this system have gone from “Protect and Serve” painted on the side of police cars, to the new and improved “Law Enforcement” … and with that, summary execution of about one unarmed local suspect a week (Portland Oregon area as a classic example) for failing to follow instructions, none of the involved “officers” ever indicted by grand juries after the fact. NOW…Who is the most dangerous person on American streets, the real statistical truth?. This bit of political/statistical truth will probably cost me my membership to Yahoo Answers… So be it, I would rather change it than switch, two of my uncles died on Omaha Beach...

I urge you to go and view a film clip called "What is Fascism?" The web link is http://www.iratecinemaunderground.com. You can download this and other film clips from a non-profit website to inform US citizens of "What the Government Doesn't Want Us to Know". If ALL US Citizens would just view them, then dismiss them, or not, however they see fit. Eyes would be opened, I think, and realizations would be an innevitable event that "we, the people of the United States" will realize how cleverly they have been being deceived and programmed with disdainful tactics by the people that are suppose to be here to make us feel safe and secure as we live out our daily lives.
No one's job is indispensible. Too bad these people would not see these films also. Most of them probably don't realize they are blatantly enforcing a communistic takeover in the making controlled by the US Government. "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave". No one in the USA is above the law as you and I well know. Apparantly we are completely aware that this is being abused by the only people that can get away with it because they are the law. Well, I could go on and on. This site is contributed by decent God fearing people. Once again, the website is http://www.iratecinemaunderground.com.

Have we become a police state by allowing the police to act like the military ._Yes, and it hasn't even started yet, give it 5 or so years, then the government will seize total military control of america, George Bush is only doing the ground work, it's the next president (controlled by the same people of course) who will declear him / herself dictator.

If you haven't noticed, we are a police state. why else dose the police wear military style clothes, and most Dept,s have military style vehicles, to supposedly to control crowds. And don't get me started on the use of S.W.A.T. teams, the might as well use the NAVY SEALS. Welcome to the brave new world order.
Just enjoy what little freedom you have left, while you can.

People are required to show identification whenever an police officer asks for it regardless of what they are doing. That is the law. I wonder which laws you classify as moral laws that you apparently don't think the police should be enforcing? Police officers are human and therefore prone to mistakes in action and judgement. Please do not expect them to be perfect, it is impossible.

Sounds like someone hates the police. You will feel differently when you become the victim of a crime and realize the bad guys have more rights than you do.
