I think the article's wording is incorrect, in regards to "fathering" 4 children...His wife may have had children from a previous relationship.

Lifers do not get the conjugal visits. This means that he married a woman who already has children. So he automatically became a father (step-father) to them.

Because even prisioners are allowed to have their wives come to stay on an overnight visit. It's called a congugal visit.

A life sentence does not mean that you spend the rest of you life in prison. Normally you are let out on license which means although you are free if you re-offend in any way you go straight back to prison. That actor (i forget his name Leslie something) who played dirty den in east enders is a convicted murderer and is out on license
