It is so much safer having a police officer living in the neighborhood. the only people who wouldn't want them living in their neighborhood is someone who is doing something illegal and fears that the police officer will find out.

Value goes up when cops live in a neighborhood. It's a proven fact. Cops add security and confidence for everyone.
You may not like having one that close if you're doing something illegal, but everyone else probably likes how nervous it makes you and how it has maybe changed your conduct.

If anything, they would drive the property values up, while people who are constantly in trouble with the law and cannot spell, like you, drive values down because people tend to flee the neighborhood as a result.

Wouldn't drive down the real estate value in my neighborhood. In fact it might raise the values. I wouldn't mind having a cop living in my neighborhood.

Not on your bankrupt savings! In my subdivision, we have a Highway Patrol Officer, a Constable, a Policeman, and a Border Patrol Agent, not counting several active duty US Army officers and enlisted personnel. Not a bad neighborhood as far as security and neat and clean surrounding.

I'd rather live next to a cop than a 92 year old, drug dealing ***** who shoots at cops.

I'm very happy to have a policeman living on my street in my little addition. It gives us visibility and awareness of safety.
