No definitely not, and besides that, jail does nothing to reform juvenile offenders, it just integrates them into a culture of adult offenders. I think the key to curbing delinquent behavior in kids starts with the family- we don't have the reigns as tight on our kids as our parents had on us, and it shows. Kids need curfews, jobs, and a sense of respect in general, and no amount of threats will instill that.

Depends in the "hood" going to jail is part of the passage into manhood, we need to figure out why that mentality exists and what as a society we can do to correct it, that said I think responsible parenting is a real solution for much of it

If the delinquent behavior was taken care of when the child was younger then he or she would not be a delinquent. When your child acts out and you do nothing, then the behavior gets harder to control as they get older.

No. I think juveniles should be treated differently. They should be analyzed to see what the problem is with them. If you go to prison you will find that the most dangerous inmates are the ones 18-25, so obiously they dont really care about punishment. If the treath of punishment worked we wouldnt have so many young people in prison. It is widely known that if you commit crime you are going to prison.

The O.T. Jews had no prisons. Continual criminal behaviour in incorrigible juvies resulted in the death penalty. This kept society fairly free from internal dangers. And, may I point out that this was God's will, God's Law, harsh to the bleeding heart liberals but effective.

it might work on some but if the behavior continues and no consequences occur what will that kid assume in his mind, that he is untouchable.
