Law Enforcement & Police - October 2006

Since I was speeding 25mph above the speed limit, the ticket says that I can't take a defensive driving class anymore. However, it's my first offense, so do i have any chance to get the judge to let me take the class, or at least lower my fine? I'm a college student, and I was going home for fall break, kinda got too excited. Usually I don't drive that fast, I know it's very dangerous. But I don't have $300 for the fine, and I don't think fight it is a good idea.

masturbating behind the school bus just loaded with children. (approx) 300 ft from school. Driver then radio's office personel to come outside now! Informs them to call the police A.S.A.P., but had no response from the police untill following day.We are only about 15 mi. from where a mother was stabbed and left for dead by intruder and her 7 day old baby kidnapped one month ago.Four years ago a 11yr old boy shawn hornbeck disappeared and has never been found .What are you to do when you cannot count on the county police to serve and protect our community The school also failed to inform parrents of the situation. But if there is a anomous call about drugs or theft around here there is not only this county but two or three other counties here within minutes Do we get no response because there is no money to be made when if they find a pedophile creeping around a school or a child who has disappeared without a trace. Help Us out here before we lose another family member or friend

if you already have been sentenced to one life sentence how will getting six more do anything. your already in prison for life. I have heard of people getting six life sentences like Lee Boyd Malvo who was in the DC snipper shootings.

Every where you go especially in cities there are CCTVs watching. We are told its for our peace of mind so we feel safe but there are so many crimes on the streets which go unsolved. A lot of the time footage can't be, for some reason, used.
So why are there so many and what do they do with the information they get.Where do all the tapes go? And who are they?

i was just thinking about all those who are frustrated and maybe legal prostitution in each state and add on to that corintine it in a area 20 minutes away from major city and have laws governing it couldnt be to hurtfull right? I mean after all what could happen maybe rape and sex offenders might go down ? Then again i might be wrong as sex offenders usually prey on people and like to feel in controll not to much controll with a prostitute eh?

First of all, this is a dead serious question. Please don't post a BS answer because this is serious.......1 month ago my uncle came to my house and punched me in the face ATLEAST 12 times as hard as he could. I am a 17 yr. old male but this man is 6'4 310 pounds. I will try not to go into alot of detail but it was not my fault for him getting mad and punching me (neighbor lied and told him i threatened to cut of someones head which is a straight up LIE)......i figured since i am legally a minor (17) that i could sue him or get my family to sue him or something......my face is just now starting to recover from the beating and he DID leave blood.......I am upset right now because the same day he hit me, i called the police and filed charges, and they said "well, we'll see what the DA (district attorney) SAYS about it"...It is way too much to type on here but i just need some advise on what to do because they have no contacted me yet and its been a little over a month...advise appreciate

My flat (rented from a housing association) was broken into by the Police (I was at home, so they could have rang the bell) during an investigation. After the whole case, the landlord sent me a bill of about £1400 for the repairs. the investigating officer in the case said that the police are usually responsible for damages they cause during investigation, but all attempt to get information on who to send the bill to has failed. Does anyone know how to make this claim in London and which police department usually deal with this claims. please give me as much detail as possible. Thanks

So this is the worse day ever, i was on my way to work today as i do everyday, i got out of my house and into my car. I drove out of my block and out of nowhere a kid on a bike runs in front of my car :( i was going about 30 i had just stoped at a stop. i didnt even see the kid and i hit him :( i didnt know what the heck happen so i got out and i saw him there just laying on the ground i was about to call 911 but he got up and ran ... i called 911 anyways and when they got here they arrested me, i told them what happen and they said they just holding me till everything was solved, they had me on jail for 3 days with poor food and bad treatment and they just realease me and said sorry everything was cleared, what should i do ? file complains or what im lost.

Two days ago a person was arrested and bail was set at an extreme amount ~ then two days later it was changed to "no Bail" what does that mean? and who makes this decision anyways? Is there any way to help this arrested person out without making it worse? Honestly, does this person ever get a fair trial? or does it mean this person is being railroaded by the system......The FBI was involved also. this person had a warrant out for their arrest but didn't voluntarily walk on in. they didn't struggle either. Yes they are innocent of the charges brought forth. they are going to be represented by the public defender they have no money for a lawyer. Does the family and friends sit back and wait while this person has nothing to present their side of the story? Does this person just listen to all the lies the other side has and just has their word against it which hasn't helped so far? What can we do to help? Is it a lost cause? What is the next step that will happen to this person? Plze help.

Ok, I was driving 96 on a 70 mile-per-hour free way. My ticket says that I can't take a defensive driving class b/c I was going more than 25 miles above the speed limit. But it's my first offense, so do I still have chance to take defensive driving class? What should I do? and also, will my insurance go up too? Thanks!

My 27-year-old husband is thinking about going into law enforcement after serving as a Naval Officer. He had thyroid cancer last year and is fine now. He had his entire thyroid removed and now takes synthroid. Other than that, he is as healthy as can be. I know they check your medical background. Does anyone know if this would be a problem if he is trying to get a job as a police officer? We are going to check around here but just wondering if anyone knew. We are in So. Cal. Thanks!!!

Do sex offenders get treated easier than thsoe that are in prison?

are people in jail nicer to those criminals with a less offence to an extreme offense?

Curious how people in jail(for 6 months or more are treated) since I know what goes on in Prison from hearsay and on tv.
