For me, if I ever went to jail it'd be like some wimpy crime and I'd be scared of sleeping when there are menacing people in my cell. Could you ask to switch cells or get a single one? Or would the guards just laugh at you? (how harsh is it in like, normal jails, not the high-security murderer ones???)

Statistics overwhelmingly show that states with high gun ownership, and in particular, the easy ability to obtain concealed carry permits, have lower crime rates. Still, our politicians think they can "save" us by restricting our access to guns. Without being too cliche, that leaves the law-abiders defenseless against the bad guys, who still have guns.

I'm from The People's Republic of California. We have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, and they do nothing. Crime continues to out-pace the rest of the nation. I can cross the border into Nevada and obtain an out-of-state concealed carry permit. Many, many states have similar laws.

Yet "the people" continue to vote for politicians that propose more restrictive gun laws, statistics be damned.

What would be an effective means for educating the people AND our politicians that less restrictive gun laws lead to more law and order?

my neighbor is a single 26 year old somewhat free spirited man. He went to stay with a friend in another state last thursday and was supposed to be back Saturday July 1st. On the 1st my neighbors mother started calling incessantly wanting me to go see if my neighbor got back safely. By sunday the 2nd my neighbors mother was panicked and hysterical because he wasnt back and hadnt called. We called the friend he was supposed to be staying with, who said he was last seen the night of saturday the 1st leaving a bar with two strangers and nobody had heard anything since.

Well all day sunday he didn't come home and now it is monday july 3rd. His mom wants to file a missing persons report and wants me to tell the police what I know (which is nothing). I told her since he is a single guy and a free spirit maybe he just met someone and is running around. I'm not so sure its time to call the FBI just yet. Is his mom over reacting? should we wait? file a report?

Will he really call for a warrant if I say no?

He said he would, and that it would be easier if I just let him search my car. I told him I'd rather he didn't, and he told me he would call for a warrant to search- But he got called away on "more urgent business", and let me go on my way.

Was this just an intimidation thing, or would he have really gotten a warrant? I am in CA.

According to CNN, 2 male contestents on the TV Program Big Brother were kicked out because one held down a Female contestant against her will while the other rubbed his groin in the woman's face. As there been numerous video's circulating the net of this incident CNN is unlikely to get it wrong. Channel 10, who broadcasts the program just put on an extreme lame excuse session explaining that the incident was just a practical joke. However this was after Australia's Prime minister Howard criticised the program as being stupid and suggested that it should be taken off the air. The police were called but have declined to prosecute, but what happened was clearly a sexual assault, and it would seem likely that the contestants may have been influenced, probably financially to take the heat off the program by changing the stories. I think the police should prosecute sexual assault and investigate possible bribery or undue influence, Whats your opinion?

We had a burglary, told the pd who did it,had a full hand on window for prints, said we were wrong, was just kids.WRONG We had a burglary at rent house, deputy drove by,stopped in road, said make of list of things missing will be back, never came back.Caught theif ourselves next day, called deputy, while she was confessing,my husband/ex-officer,asked if he was going to read her rights, deputy said"are you really going to file charges,I will have to take her to jail.Had over $5,000.00 property taken off my truck, deputy called theif to see if he really took it.never filed.Called sheriff office about kids on go karts, dirt bikes, no helmets,on county road, asked her not to put it over the air because they had scanners, she said"well at least they will stop". This has been over a period of about 10 years. They continue to ask the county for more money, at least they can drive new cars and look good.
