Law Enforcement & Police - July 2006

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Law Enforcement & Police

People have a bad perception of police officers mainly because the only time they encounter them is in negative situations (getting a ticket, being told what to do and not to do), but its seem noone respects them as heroes. They put themselves in harms way also by being reactive to gangs, shootings, violence and other dangerous situations. I realize firefighters go into flaming houses, but Police officers go into dangerous situations too, do you agree or disagree and please explain WHY?

the real question is - why don't the "guilty" folk feel the same intimidation?

Has our legal, justice system become blurred?

Have we become so wrapped up with the terrorist threat that the police can ignore everyday people crimes (robbery, theft, burgarly, etc,) whilst carrying guns in their pursuit of "higher level crime" to the demise of everyday problems and citizens?

It's becoming to easy to believe that I can be ignored for raising my concerns about real crimes, but will be visited by umpteen armed "boys in blue" if I raise unfashionable or un-politically-correct comments about just about any other thing

if a drunk driver has kids in the car, they are charged with child abuse and child indangerment. since recent studied show that talking on a cell phone while driving, the driver is more impaired than a drunk driver and is more likely to get into a wreck. so why don't cell phone users while driving get charged with child abuse and child indangerment?

BATF and FBI are now claiming that those who defend the 2nd amendment are terrorists?

History has shown that a disarmed populace is soon massacred and enslaved. Why are our peace offciers going along with this, unless they are no longer patriotic peace officers but something far more sinister.

I owned a business in wi the job was never finished due to winter .They then hired another person in the spring instead of calling me back. without even telling me(even though we had a contract to complete the job with no finish date. now they want to charge me with theft in a business setting as a felony.Even though i have documentation of where every dollar went. The only reason This is still going is because they will not give me credit for any of the work i 've done. Even though the other company said all of the work i had done was good and completed. Please help if you can

I don't understand why some people tend to be so negative about Police Officers. There are some lame movies and this famous story about donuts. Jeez, Police Officers are amazing people. I'm not saying all are, however, it doesn't apply to each and every one of them. I always see them driving by patrolling the area and I feel safe. It's not their fault people drive too fast without a seatbelt, or do drugs and participate in illegal acts.

As a 16-year-old I really appreciate what they do. And how they encourage youth to lead themselves to the path of righteousness. While we're sleeping in bed these people are out protecting their community. They too have a family to return to. So do Firefighters who run into burning buildings to save a life. And Paramedics who give the same care to their patients like doctors only difference is that they do it at scene alone with a crowd watching by or in a house with extra dim lights.

I'm just curious, and I think it's important to know your rights. The police often like to try and trick you into believing that you have none. Do you know what your rights are, in terms of legal vs. illegal search, etc.?
