Re: seatbelts. Florida has a really dumb law. You must wear a seat belt in the vehicle, need a helmet to ride a bicycle but can ride on a motorcycle without a helmet. Go figure?

My best friend was killed because she wasn't wearing a seat belt. Just because you CAN be killed while wearing a seatbelt doesn't mean a seatbelt can't save your life. The only reason my friend died was because she was ejected from the car. If she had been wearing a seatbelt she would've stayed in the car and survived.

The better way to phrase reality is "wearing a seat belt is far safer than not wearing one". However, you can get hurt in either case.
Statistically, it is unquestionable that wearing a seat belt will dramatically lower your chances of getting seriously injured in car accidents.

On the whole, it's safer with the seat belt. They keep you in place so you have control over the car longer VS getting thrown out the door or through the windshield etc....you get the drift. Buckle up!

They say that because it is true.
Of course they aren't 100% but it is a well known fact that your chances of surviving a car accident are greatly improved by properly wearing your seat belt.

It provides some protection, and there have been sooo many studies where, had the dummy been wearing a seatbelt, injuries would have been much less serious. Of course, there are the accidents where nothing can help and they are just fatal, period. But much of the time, it is completely worth it and important to wear a seatbelt.

A seat belt is a restraining device. If you get in a collision it stops you from going through the windshield. If you don't wear one you will go flying out the window.

ok.... One wreck I had, I didn't wear a seatbelt. I broke my neck and had a severe head injury. I was in the hospital for 2 months. Two weeks of that , I was in a coma. The other wreck, I did wear a seatbelt. Nothing happened to me but the car was totaled.
