First off, stay in school and get your degree. Law enforcement has definitely changed and the degree will be of considerable help to you.

Any service in the armed forces will help, but you mentioned becoming an OFFICER in the infantry. If you go through OCS it would definitely be a very positive entry on your resume.

As far as MP vs. Infantry. I am a police officer and I was an MP. Being an MP definitely won't hurt, but I don't think that there is any great advantage over an infantryman. The fact of the matter is this... being an MP is very different than being a police officer in a civilian population. Even more so if you look at Field MP's over Garrison MP's. The rules, expectations, and mission between military law enforcement and civilian law enforcement are quite different. (I believe) You'll find that civilian law enforcement is tougher to do and more rewarding.

What an administration sees in a applicant with military experience is not "a ready made cop." You'll definitely need to be trained. What they do see, is a man or woman that has self discipline, a logical mind under stress, basic or better leadership skills, and someone with a "service minded" personality. A person who is willing to step forward in the face of personal risk to do an act for the common good of the people that they serve.

I say, stay in school, get your degree, go through OCS and if you can make in into the rangers... go for it... that's a high bar to clear. And one you could and should be proud of. But don't beat yourself up if you don't make the rangers. There is a TON of training available to you that will make you a better police officer, take advantage of it.

Good luck

Being a MP can help but any military service will also help.

If you are going to college you may wish to look at a ROTC program to become an offcier in service.

Also while a criminal justice degree is nice and if that is what you want ok, but really any degree is ok, and actually alot of police departments are looking for social science degrees, or computer degrees and esp management degrees for people looking for promotion latter.

merely sounds like a exciting activity! Who does not opt to get payed for utilising quickly, and ******* with human beings all day and after 25 years get an entire retirement? I smoke weed and do unlawful issues for all time and transforming into a cop nonetheless sounds exciting.

Go infantry, they all seem to become State Troopers anyway.
