A 16 year old could drive a car all by themselves, but they can't drive themselves to see a movie with bad words and fighting (legally speaking)...I don't understand the logic behind that! Any thoughts as to why the law was structured that way?

A lot of people are against the death penalty for rapists, but if their mom, sister, wife, girlfriend, or anyone close to them gets raped, they would support the death penalty for whomever raped their mom, sister, wife, etc.

But if the rapist rapes someone that they don't know, then it's not a good punishment, and all of a sudden they're pro-life?

Hippocrate much?

I am currently in the process of writing a book and I found an article on the internet that I would like to include. It will be cited and properly attributed with the author's name, the date it was posted and a direct link to where it can be found. Do you still have to ask for permission to use it?

The article is simply a news article and it will be used for educational purposes. The book itself is a parenting book and the article has useful information I would like to use.

I am a parent who had to pay $15 to pick up my childs phone at school today because it was taken away by a teacher. I understand phones should not be used during school and it is a disruption during class but having to pay to get your own property back?? How is that legal? Granted my child should have had his phone off, but it was on vibrate and the teacher did not hear it. The child sitting next to mine made a big deal about it!! The only reason my child has a phone is because we live in a rural community out of the school district and our phone number is not a local number. The phone the kids are allowed to use does not make LD calls. The student handbook states that kids are not allowed to have pagers, CD players, camcorders, DVD players, cameras, electronic devices or games at school without permission. If taken up student will have to pay $15 to have item returned. Then it goes on to state....for safety purposes, they do allow cell phones but they must be turned off.

My brother was just fired due to missing too many days of work within a 3 month period. He and his wife just had their second baby, he is only 2 weeks old, and she is suffering from post partum depression, because of this, she throws a fit every night when he has to go to work. Well last friday she begged him not to go because the baby was crying a lot. He called his job and talked to the secretary who told him that it was no big deal because he was worried that he might get into trouble for it, he would just get what they call a "black mark" and a verbal warning. So because she told him it was alright he called out. 3 days later he was called into the office and told that he was fired for missing too many days. He explained how he would have been here if the secretary had told him that he would lose his job if he wasn't here, but since she told him really not to worry about it, it would be fine, he stayed home. He has worked for this company for 7 years

hi, my best friend is in a bit of trouble. a few nights ago she totaled her car (she is incredibly lucky to be alive and even luckier that no one else was involved in the accident). At the scene she blew a .28!! and with her injuries she was taken directly to the hospital instead of to jail. i am not sure if or how the law differs if you are that far over the legal limit or if an accident was involved. I only know the ramifications of a "regular" dui. Would it be wise for her to hire an attorney? will it do any good? she has no prior record, will she be facing any jail time or other severe penalty like loss of license? thank you for any help or advice you can give.

CVS will not allow me to buy alcohol even though i am 24 years old. They claim that foreigners without a canadian, mexican or american ID are not allowed to purchase alcohol in New York State by law.
Wouldn't that mean that foreigners are discriminated against? Why shouldn't I have the same rights as any American, Canadian or Mexican when it comes to alcohol?
I would be very happy if anyone could send me any sort of information on this topic.
Thank you

Dr. Ricardo Asch of California was at the center of a human egg and embryo scandal in 1996. In his infertility clinic, he was found to have taken excess eggs from patients and used them for other patients who needed donor eggs. Normally, a patient consents to donate and much paperwork is filled out to document all the details. Some of the egg recipients and all of the donors were unaware of the swaps. There were forty known cases, and the staff says there were likely many others. The scandal became public when staff became suspicious and called in the police.
This left many patients unsure about the paternity of their children. No one knew for sure whose children were really whose.

What responsibilities did the parents have to seek the true paternity of their children? What about cases where parents learned that their child was from another woman? Would they be morally responsible to share custody with the donor? What a wonderful world we live in culd u imagine?
