An article was copied from website, no link or credit was posted. The article was on the site for less than 7 days, removed immediately upon request. Does the owner of this material have grounds for a lawsuit?

If complied with, and there are no damages, then the suit probably will not survive a request for summary judgement.

Probably not. The use infringed copyright, but you'd have to show intent to win a lawsuit. Since the item was removed on request, that would be difficult.

No.

A request by the copyright holder to cease and desist must be made and ignored for a copyright suit to succeed. Since the request was complied with, the suit will fail.

Not for a fair lawsuit but the person who runs the website better stick to that story and not say anything that indicates otherwise.
