My parents live in New Mexico and recentely got a quote for new carpet, they compaired and went with the most reasonable company. Half way through the job the guy told my dad they measured wrong and have to pay an extra $400+ for the carpet. Is there a law that protects them in the state of New Mexico against this sort of stuff? My mom sais just pay it but my dad said that they went with this company cause it was the lowest of the quotes and most reasonable and if they measured wrong its there mistake and also feels like that did that on purpose to get the job. I seem to agree with my dad cause the company did the measurements and quoted off of there own measurements but legally I am wondering if there is a law that stands behind my dad.

The county has been sending threatening letters that they will come pick me up and tow me away to the jailhouse if I don't go pay my library fine of $18.57. They don't seem to understand, I don't have that kind of money. *sigh*

Well, on the bright side, I have been wanting to see my ex-boyfriend again...

They are insisting me to use a particular anti-virus. When I installed a better anti-virus, their software stops and prompts me to uninstall it. (Their anti-virus is not at all acting as an anti-virus. It acts as virus informer only)

The bigger issue than the anti-virus is, they are spamming me with the promotional newsletters. I have specifically unsubscribed from all the newsletters. They are again and again overriding my unsubscription. (I asked them to stop this but they responded with unrelated answer)

Can I sue them? Or will there by any catch in their user agreement? (I didn't sign agreement separately. But there were some fineprints in their application)

I am discussing a topic for my paralegal class and we were presented with this situation. When doing leagal research you come across another case which an appellate court in your jurisdiction ruled against an individual whose case was almost identical to your client's case.
When you tell your attorney about the case, she tells you that she is not going to bring the case to the court's attention, because that is the responsibility of the opposing attorney. She then tells you to destroy your copy of the case.

I have read 3.3 Candor toward the Tribunal from ABA model rules of conduct, but I am not very clear on this matter. Any information to clarify would be great! Tahnks!!

A sheriff served me today with some civil papers from a past debt back in college. The sheriff didn't sign the paper upon delivery and the law suit is not very intuitive.

1. Am willing to pay the bill, but not sure how to handle the situation - never been sued before.
2. Not a lawyer but i believe the lawyer filed improper papers after i need some research - I'd like to try an get this knocked out by counter suing on those grounds.

Any ideas/advice will be appreciated.

My aunt is turing 62, in June 2008, is it best that she file 6 month before she turn 62 years, or should she wait until she is 62 to file
we were told that it is better to file 6 month early so you can get your check on time, you know the month you turn 62 and and the reducingtion of the 30% and no more than that. I also was told that the longer you waite after 62 years the rate goes up 2 to 4 % like if you are going to get 700.00 dollars at 62. if you are 62 and three months you will get 712.00 how true are these statment, do any one know, and yes we are going to call the social security board, we just want to know what someone else thinks.

Long story short, thanks to my ex-girlfriends mom I was arrested when I turned 18 for being with her daughter (even though she was only 2 years and 2 months younger and was about to turn 16).

The charges were Misdemeanor Lewd and Lacivious Battery and Felony Child Abuse.

The L&L Battery was dropped and the adjudication of guilt was witheld on the Child Abuse due to the circumstances surrounding the case.

My lawyer told me if someone were to run a basic conviction check on me, nothing would come up.

He also said I can have my record sealed, because I was never formally charged b/c a conviction and guilt was witheld.

Thirdly, I was also told I can still get a passport b/c (as above stated) I was never technically convicted.

Are those statements true? Can someone help?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Dec. 10 -- A heavily armed man who killed four young people at a missionary training center and a church Sunday apparently intended to gun down many more victims before he was shot by a former police officer who was serving as a volunteer security guard.

I believe the terrorist and the gun man lost their human rights when they started to kill others.

I realize that buying hemp products and selling hemp products is legal within certain boundries in the US. But the growing of hemp and the manufacturing of hemp products is illegal. Industrial hemp plants do not contain a high enough amount of THC to produce any intoxicating effects so it is not like legalizing marijuana as a drug.

The hemp industry brings millions of dollars a year into other countries that are not fearful of this drug. It could do the same for us! Hemp is one of the most useful plants on the planet. It can be used to make clothes which are more durable than cotton and breathes better than cotton. Hemp seed oil can be used in cooking and has far less fat content than any other cooking oil. Hemp can be used to make shampoos and soaps and other cleaners that are not harmful to our enviroment. Hemp can be made into paper, which in turn, solves our forestry problems. Hemp oil can be used to produce plastics instead of using potroleum based products. Hemp fibers can be used to strengthen cement and other manufacturing applications. Hemp can be used to make interior panels for cars. Hemp seeds can be ground into flour and used for baking and contains beneficial omega fatty acids, amino acids, and minerals. Hemp seeds can be used to produce non dairy "milk" similar to soy. Biofuels such as biodiesel and alcohol fuel can be made from the oils in hemp seeds and stalks and hemp produces more energy per acre per year than corn, sugar, flax, or any other crop currently grown for ethanol or biodiesel.

As it stands, i have currently won judgment against an evil roofing contractor company (via default judgment). On my case i sued the corporate entity and its owner.

At present the owner is trying to have his name removed from the case because he says he was not directly involved with the dealings with me (only the company was)--i dealt with the owner face-to-face and handed him cash, etc. However, there was a Bank Draft that i paid to the owner in hand but sadly it was not endorsed to the owner's name himself.

I strongly believe the owner wants his name off the judgment because once he does remove himself he will file the company for bankruptcy and i will not be able to collect on the money he stole.

Can someone tell me is there ANYTHING i can do to keep this owner's name on the judgment or procedures i can follow if he were successful in removing his name and does indeed go bankrupt?

Thanks

We just finished building our house and went to the post office to ask where our mailbox should go. The postmaster told us across the street next to the neighbor's mailbox. The next day the mail carrier talked to my husband and told him about the neighbor had called the postmaster and was not being very "nice" about it but that we had to put the mailbox there, we had no choice, and we didn't have to ask his permission. On saturday the builder put up our mailbox and a few hours later the neighbour came over ranting and raving about it and threatening to pull it out and all that. That evening, he DID take the mailbox our and leave it next to our house. We spoke to the police about it, they checked on something, I don't know if it was the subdivision plat or what, and said that there was no city easement there and so they couldn't make him let us put the mailbox there. The post office still refuses to deliver our mail unless it's on that side of the street. What to do?

After all it is the most important job in America and maybe in the world. Shouldn't we hold the president to the same standards as the American worker or are we willing to take our chances on another president who has possibly damaged his/her mind with cocaine and/or other drug abuse.
