Yes, it has unfortunately become a necessary evil in order to insure that some will be prosecuted. Some times you may have enough evidence for a conviction on a lessor charge so you go with that to remove the offender fron society. Not always properly used, but it is sometimes effective.

I don't like how it is used by the court system to railroad people into pleading to a lesser crime when they didn't do anything in the first place. The suspect feels railroaded by all this 'evidence' and they get bullied by people saying how much time they are going to do - and they plead out...

I am of the opinion of - using your right to remain silent and lawyer up immediately - don't sign noting and - no they cannot search anything without a warrant.

also i think getting bailed out is money thrown away that could be spent on a lawyer - Public Defenders and Prosecutors work together everyday and probably go to lunch and spend time outside of work. - so i think the PD's are more on the side of the police than on the side of the accused.

Yes, because it is not always worth the time or money necessary to fully convict some criminals.

Expenses go up, work hours for all court staff go up dramatically which= even more taxpayer money

It is more efficient to plea bargain

No. It saves time and money over having a trial. Good for when the person is guilty and the evidence is sparse - not beyond a reasonable doubt - but the criminal doesn't want to take a chance and get more time than offered.

It's not necessarly evil but even though you say "don't ask" it really does matter to ask because how can anyone answer it?
So a long story short: Depends on the situation

Given the forum that you put this question in, it would be unethical for me to give you any info for your test. ;)

Do your own research; you might learn something.
