is it legal for the telephone company to chop down a tree on private property if the owner doesn't want them to?
also, if it is, who can I talk to (in the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana), to keep it from happening?

Here is the situation as I have had it told to me: About a year ago, there was a gentleman (in his 50s) crossing the street in the town where I live. He was hit by a car driven by an elderly lady who was not drinking, just not paying attention. He was in a coma for weeks. Since he came out of it, he has had many health problems. He can't speak (because he can't move his mouth), he has had a couple of surgeries for hernia and other health problems. He barely walks, and has mental problems. Previous to this, he worked.

So, now he is unable to work. He and his friends came to ask what to do (I do interpretation). I am not sure if he is legally here or not. When I asked, he said he was a citizen, but, there was a problem with his social security number (?) and his friends seemed to think he may be illegal.

I just need to know where to send him. To an attorney, I suspect, but, if he is illegal will that be a good move? I know he can't be deported, but, can he sue?

Shouldn't churches be able to decide for themselves? I just don't get it!! When a politician stops two people from being married they are a politician playing a role in religion. Isn't that what they say they don't want to interfere in?

In the news, there is a family lost in the woods looking for a x'mas tree. I would have thought that is illegal to cut down trees from public land. Otherwise, our parks or forest close to cities will be bare without trees.

Ive been taking care of my disabled grandmother for 8 yrs. I have had no other job or education. she passed in june this year. my uncle is kicking my son and I out with nowhere to go, in the middle of winter, no money, no vehicle, nothing to fall back on. All of these years without a vehicle and he would not even bring tiolet paper or take me to the grocery store. I rode the bus to food lion and walked to walgreens hundereds of times to get what we needed. I could not leave the house to work because she would try to cook and burn things and leave the stove on or she would fall if she didnt get the help she needed to walk to the bathroom. I have sacrificed so much taking care of my granny and my son has been in the same school system since kindergarten - he is 12 yrs old.
Advice I've recieved has been that most health care aides/companions make on the low end 2000 a month - meaning he would owe me over 200 000. I don't want nearly thats. Just enough for a fresh start. There is NO WILL.

I got injuried in 1985 and was told by two doctors that I should learn to accept it because they were not very good on the shoulder repair at the time so I settled for mediacl for life. I have sinced moved to Ohio and have tried to get medical help. The workmans comp insurance Lockheed in California said they can not get a doctor to see me because they are in a different state. My settlement does not say "Only in California", It said "Medical coverage for life on my shoulder. I have had 5 operations and am told they can correct my only remaining problem with another operation. I really need help with this

I work in a grocery store in Wisconsin. We have a "card all" program, meaning we card everyone, regardless of age, for alcohol or tobacco products. This was done to reduce liability for store and cashier, reduce offense taken by those who are card, or not carded, and keep alcohol out of the hands of teenagers. Overall, people have taken well to it. However, there are several people, usually older gentlemen, who refuse to show me their ID. A coworker said that there is a law stating if a customer is purchasing alcohol, either in a store or at a bar, and ID is asked of them (no matter their age), they must provide it. Otherwise the seller has the right to refuse the sale. Is this true? Has anyone heard of this?

Over two yr.s ago worked with a vet, his daughter on winter day over 2 yr.s ago brought in a Shepherd Mix dog and told her day that it was her friends, neighbors dog and they wanted her to take it and find it a home. Well Jessica (as we called her) was 2 yr.s chained to a tree with no shelter, no muscles, all skin and bone, after months of treatments, for fleas, worms, spay, weight and muscle gain, taught her how to play, and on it was time to find her a new home. Family friends of mine lost there dog and were looking for another, I told them about Jessica they can to the clinic to see her after a chat with the doctor they took her home. I'm not sure about pics from over 2 yr.s ago, I do recall the doc. taking some, her medical records were documented, and so last night these family friends get a call from a lawyer saying the are being sued for pain, heatache and want moneys??? I don't get any of this but shouldn't they go after the doctor or his daughter and how in the world after

I just got a 5th notice about a class action lawsuit against a company I was a customer of. No, I am not interested in the whopping $5 I am entitiled to because 7 years ago the company charged a 50 cent fee they failed to disclose.

How about a class action lawsuit against lawyers for harrassing people with their petty class action lawsuits?

I'm a college student in a fairly large city, and it really makes me upset that over 85% of the sophomores and freshmen drink alcohol. Not only that, but they do it to excess. They act as though it's their right to drink as much as they want, even though it's harmful and ILLEGAL. Local businesses willingly serve drinks to underage students...they put an X on the back of minors' hands and use it as an excuse if the students are caught drinking: "I dunno, officer, he wasn't supposed to be served alcohol so I have no idea of how this happened!"

Does anyone know of any good sites I could use as references? I am planning to send a letter to the college's president. And if he claims that intervening is none of his business, should I write to local lawmakers? The underage drinking on campus is a problem that needs to be addressed. And please, don't respond to this question by stating that people DO have the right to drink before age 21...because it is illegal, whether you like it or not.

So the divorce went through at the beginning of November. She called right away to let me know, and to get the ex's address, so she could send us copies of the paperwork. When it didn't show up after a week or so I called her and left a message asking what is up? Since then, I have left her about 10 voice mails, all polite yet questioning. Still no paperwork. The thing is that the ex doesn't even know that the divorce is final and I don't want to be the one to tell him. I want him to just get the paperwork, you know? I have already paid her, of course, but I really have had to micromanage her the whole way through.

I gave my car back to bank and after it was picked up I realized my wheel locks for my other car were in it. When I called the tow company they told me it's $75 to get my personal stuff back. I could of sworn that there is a law in Florida that prohibits tow companies to charge for this.

Why are they still charging the fee if it's against the law? When I confronted them about the fee, they told me to call my lawyer. PRICKS!
