It is a copy

If it were true, it would be outrageous.

What was actually sold, however, was a copy dating from 1279, more than 60 years after Magna Carta was signed. And it wasn't sold to "the Illuminatti", anyway (Which you can't even spell) it was sold to a American lawyer who's a famous collector of old books and manuscripts.

More importantly, his collection is open to historians and scholars, so this sale is a good thing as it keeps it available for study.

Plus, the Magna Carta is one of the vital founding pillars of American Law. Had this copy gone elsewhere, there wouldn't be a single copy of it in the US - and I think there should be.
