It is illegal to drive drunk regardless of age.
The biggest argument in favor would be if you are old enough to vote, old enough to get married, old enough to die for your country, you are old enough to have a drink if you would like one.

Legally, the states set their own drinking age. Any state can lower their age to 18, but the Fed will cut off funding for roads.....if you ever drove through Louisiana during the 80's or 90's you would have seen the very negative affect of having 18 as the drinking age - worst roads in the country.

The biggest reason I think a person should be allowed to drink legally at age 18 is because we are legally considered adults at this age so why do we have to wait to legally drink? Furthermore, the country will let you risk your life in the Armed Services, but prohibit you from drinking. That is not right in my eyes, if you are man or woman enough to put your life on the line for us then you should be able to drink if you so choose.

BAD IDEA. There are just to many immature people at that age and I know that you know that . I work at an auto body shop and I see a lot of underage drinking accidents. They used to let 18 y/o drink in Texas in the 80's and they had to stop that because of all the accidents and the early alcoholism problems.

Lowering drinking age would be a good idea in some respect because you know a lot of kids sneak around to get drinks, drink too much at parties, steal alcohol, and buy alcohol from shady people. If it were legal to drink at 18, people wouldn't have to go through such extremes to drink. In a few generations, there might be less alcoholism in teens if they know that alcohol is not like this amazing, taboo, "bad" act, and just like, having a drink, whatever.

I think the best argument for lowering the drinking age is that 18 year olds are considered adults in almost all other respects (they can vote, sign contracts, etc).

There are health concerns. It is a fact that the human brain is not fully developed at the age of 18 in most humans. Using alcahol will have a greater detrimental effect on those that chose to ignore this danger.

People will be better educated and they will be less tempted to do heavy drinking in college and in there early 20's. If a 18 year old can be old enough to be in a War, Vote our countries leaders, and be considered a legal adult, then they should be able to drink.

How about Equal treatment under the law.
At 18 you are an adult and can make your own decisions.
With rights come responsibility and from 18 to 20 you do not have equal treatment under the law.

I figure it's fine the way it is...unless you have a Military ID, then I believe they should have it lowered only for that...if you are old enough to die for your country, you sure as hell are old enough to drink!
